Jesus, you proved your love for us, not only by dying on the cross, but by rising from the dead after three days. Your Resurrection gives us hope that someday we too will resurrect to be with you in paradise. From the death of sin, we will resurrect, to the life of grace.

Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross. Thank you Jesus for rising back to life. Thank you Jesus for loving us without end.

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12)

Black Saturday is the Highest or Greatest Vigil in Roman Catholic Church. On this holy night, the Church keeps watch, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ in the sacraments and awaiting his return in glory. It is the turning point of the Sacred Paschal Triduum, the Passover of the new covenant, which marks Christ's passage from death to life.

As we bless the Holy Water and Fire and renew our Baptismal Vows may we never forget the Sacrifice of our Lord for mankind. For His triumph over death and His resurrection opened the gates of Heaven. And let us remember that God is the Alpha (Α) and the Omega (Ω), The Beginning and the End.

"Si Kristo ang liwanag! Salamat sa Diyos!"

Today Black Saturday, the world is engulfed in darkness as we mourn the death of our Lord the Light of the world.

Lord, as we journey through life, as we fall into sin, as we sin against others too, we beg you to continue forgiving us. Make us forgiving Christians that someday, we may all be with you in paradise.

The Veiling of Church Images and Statues signifies the absence of Christ from the world. In a sense, we are reminded of the veiled world that we are living in. And just as Christ lifts the veil through His Resurrection, it is through our own death where the veils are lifted, that we are able to see our true home.

"Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, 'What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?' And they paid him thirty pieces of silver." - Matthew 26:14-16

Spy Wednesday is a solemn day, as it begins the events leading to the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross. It is a day where Judas Iscariot betrays Jesus by acting as a “spy” or an informant towards the authorities, leading to Jesus’ eventual arrest.

Lent is a time of waiting, but it can also be a meaningful time to confession for our sins. It is a chance to turn away from temptation, and redeem ourselves as true children of God! And thus, with Kumpisalang Bayan, we leave behind the sins that put us in misery and endless suffering. So that we may be able to emerge as new and prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, the heart of our faith.

“By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19.

On the first day of lent, we begin this holy season by acknowledging our need for repentance and our need for the love and forgiveness shown to us in Jesus Christ. Through our annual tradition on Ash Wednesday, we remember that we are dust and to dust shall we return.

The purpose of our Fast is not to become physically weak but rather to create a hunger, a spiritual void that only Christ can fill. Fasting is not just a physical discipline, it can be a spiritual feast. As the Lenten season begin let us use this time to reflect on ourselves and cleanse our body and soul of the corruptions within so that we may be worthy of the sacrifice of Christ.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. It is celebrated forty days after Christmas in our Church, signifying the day Mary and Joseph would have brought Jesus into the Temple.
The heart of this celebration is when Simeon and Anna crossed paths with the Child Jesus in the Temple, understanding and proclaiming Jesus as the Savior of the World!

We also celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Candelaria. In our darkest moments in life let us pray to the Lord through the intercession of the Our Lady of Candelaria. May Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts shine through the darkness Christ, be our light!

Today, January 25, 2024, we celebrate the Feast of Conversion of St. Paul!

As we think about the glorious conversion of Saint Paul, let us also remember the three days Paul spent in Damascus after encountering Jesus on the road that changed his life forever. During those three days, he pondered Jesus’ words– he fasted, prayed, listened, thought, and changed his ways. It may not have been easy to face the truth within his soul, but he did it. And from that time on, the zeal he had poured into persecuting Jesus, became zeal for the spreading of the Gospel.

It is easy to see Saint Paul in the bright light of all that he accomplished. But one truth we must never forget is that he was only a man, just like the rest of us. And how this man experienced profound conversion and dedicated the rest of his life to the will of God.

Saint Paul must be a model for each of us. As we ponder his conversion today, let us think about our own conversion, then allow God to fill us with zeal so that God may use us in glorious ways just as He did with Saint Paul.

Today, January 21, 2024 we collectively celebrate the Feast of Señor Santo Niño or Holy Child.

During the third Sunday of January, the Philippines celebrates the Santo Niño, a symbol of the birth of Catholicism in the Philippines more than 500 years ago. The Filipino devotion to the Santo Niño is connected to historical accounts when the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan arrived on the shores of Cebu on March 16, 1521. There, Magellan introduced Christianity to the locals and presented the Santo Niño image of Christ to the Queen of Cebu for safekeeping.

Nowadays, the celebration of Santo Niño is a widely observed Filipino festival. This feast encourages people to move forward to behold the Holy Child, representing the embodiment of Jesus Christ, the savior of the world. Furthermore, the annual celebration also reminds Filipinos about the adoption of Christianity in their motherland while also aiming to show how the devotion to Santo Niño has remained relevant until modern times. This fact is interesting as it particularly relates to children and youth, as a reflection of their dreams and the potential they represent. Finally, as a religious ritual during the fiesta, the faithful are urged to have their Santo Niño as a source of spiritual counseling, guidance, and protection.

Over 2,000 Years ago on a silent night in Bethlehem, an Infant was born in a manger, though of humble birth He is the Messiah, the Son of God, Our Savior Jesus Christ.

Christmas is about receiving and giving, as today is also a Holy Day of Obligation let us celebrate this day by receiving and giving the gift of the true Christmas story, that God gave His Son so that mankind would receive Him. Let’s focus not on our own joys but making others joyful. The greatest gift we can give others is to tell them about the most wonderful Gift God has bestowed on the whole world.
