One year after the invasion of Gaza by the Israeli regime, the genocide of the Palestinian people continues, leaving thousands killed and hundreds of thousands more displaced across the world. The war has now spilled over the border into Lebanon and Syria, at the behest of Benjamin Netanyahu, aided and abetted by great powers such as the United States and its allies.

While the Philippine government has voted for a humanitarian ceasefire, the current administration and local government units have remained complicit in the suffering in Palestine and the Levant.

Growing militarization in the country comes through the procurement of arms and maritime vessels from the Israeli military, thereby funding them with millions of taxpayer pesos. Meanwhile, LGUs like that of Quezon City under Joy Belmonte continue to cooperate with settler cities such as Rishon LeZion and Israeli corporate entities that have made their fortune off the backs of the systematic oppression of the Palestinian people.

Join the growing ranks of youth advocates for peace tomorrow to hold the Quezon City government to account. We must call out its complicity in enabling the violence in Palestine and the larger great power conflict that threatens peace and justice in the country and the region.

A discussion & planning activity entitled "Ceasefire NOW!: Israel's Genocide in Gaza, One Year On" will be held this SATURDAY, October 05, 2024, 1:30PM - 4:00PM at Faura AVR Room, Ateneo de Manila University.

The event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and joins actions around the world on October 05 in support of the Palestinian people.

Speakers include members of the Palestinian community in the Philippines, grassroots movement leaders and solidarity campaigners, student leaders, and many others.

Discussions will concern how to strengthen the Palestinian solidarity movement in the Philippines ahead of the 1st anniversary of the current Israeli invasion of Gaza on October 07.

𝗖𝗢𝗦 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 was a remarkable journey! Here's a recap of the exciting lineup of speakers and activities that made the day one to remember. With our wonderful and talented hosts, 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮 & 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘇𝗮𝗹, we witnessed the limitless potential of science and innovation. 🔬

The event was kicked off with a wonderful doxology performance by Councilor for Internal Control Jefferson Padua. COS Governor Marl Gillwell Carteciano officially opened the event with her welcoming remarks, setting a tone of excitement and discovery. COS Dean Dr. Joshua T. Soriano shared an inspiring pre-recorded message while USG President Lovely Joy E. Lerin gave special words of encouragement for the year ahead. After the presentation of the COS promotional video and COS-CSC teaser, the College of Science Student Council officially introduced their executives and committee members.

The main initiative of the orientation was tackled by Ms. Deebee Michelle Beleno, with the discussion of the academic policies of the TUP system. The event was packed with fun and exciting performances that kept everyone engaged. Students got a kick out of watching Edukultura Entertainment Production's play, “Lagablove 2: Hindi ito Senakulo,” and our talented professor, Mr. Arthur Glenn A. Guillen, put on an amazing show with his vocal talent. ACSO booths were set up at the back, with our event partner Don Macchiatos - San Marcelino,Ermita, serving up some treats🧋.

We also introduced the Accredited Clubs and Student Organizations led by Presidents Jan Yzabel Gaza from TUP Green Society, Mikhail Ram Danga from TUP Chemical Society, Lorenz Christian Libao from TUP-Manila Compass, and Horace Vincent Cruz from PCSMT-TUP Manila. Vice Governor Kien Leriss Serapio wrapped things up with empowering closing remarks.

A huge thank you to our partner Don Macchiatos - San Marcelino Ermita, our co-presenters TUP Chemical Society, TUP Green Society, TUP-Manila COMPASS, Google Developer Student Clubs TUP Manila, TUP Tech Guild, and to you, COSians, for making this huge event a success!
