Upon assessment at the eye-clinic additional signs and symptoms such as a right exotropia, left horizontal gaze palsy, nystagmus, with associated right-sided hemiparesis, dizziness, slurring of speech, and drooping of the left lip which prompted emergency management. Plain cranial CT scan showed a left-sided pontine hemorrhage.
Up to 25% of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) affect children less than 18 years of age. The 5-year risk of hemorrhage in these patients is at 20% with the re-bleeding risk at 7.1%. In some cases, patients would seek ophthalmologic consults first, hence isolating the lesion would determine if there are life-threatening causes. Therefore, a complete neuro-ophthalmological exam is paramount as it is both sight-saving and life-saving as well".

"We report a case of a 77-year-old Filipino adult presenting with re**al bleeding. He underwent sigmoidoscopy that showed thrombosed hemorrhoids; however, subsequent surgical excision biopsy histopathology and immunohistochemistry revealed features compatible with malignant melanoma (HMB45, Melan A, and Cytokeratin positive; CDX2 negative). Staging workup done, including abdominal MRI with IV contrast and chest CT, showed distant metastases. He was then started on immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) but follow up imaging showed recurrence of the re**al melanoma and progression of metastases. Molecular testing was positive for cKIT/CD117, hence, treatment was shifted to targeted therapy (imatinib). In this patient, both pembrolizumab and imatinib post-surgery resulted to recurrence of the re**al tumor and progression of hepatic and osseous metastases. Such as in this case, using pembrolizumab and imatinib still have inconsistent outcomes, thus, further studies should be pursued".

"We aimed to determine whether the use of pneumonia panel improves overall survival rate, length of hospital stay, and number of antibiotic free days among hospitalized patients with community acquired pneumonia. A total of 80 participants completed this randomized controlled trial. The research showed that routine use of pneumonia panel does not significantly reduce length of hospital stay, duration of antibiotic therapy, and mortality rates among admitted patients with moderate to severe pneumonia. The benefit of pneumonia panel was seen on early detection of drug resistant pathogen resulting in early antibiotic escalation and shorter duration of antibiotic therapy among patients with severe pneumonia".
