What Is the Sabbath Day?
The Sabbath is a holy day set apart by God for us to rest from our labors and worship Him. Following the Creation of the world, God blessed the seventh day and made it sacred (see Genesis 2:2–3).
He commanded the Israelites to “remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8). After the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, His disciples began observing the Sabbath on Sunday, or the first day of the week (see Mark 16:2; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:1–2).
In the latter days, God renewed His commandment to observe the Sabbath day (see Doctrine and Covenants 59:9–13; 68:29).
The Lord Jesus Christ is the solution to our problems, but we must lift our eyes and raise our sights to see Him.
God has given parents the “sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to … observe the commandments of God.”
A parent’s love for a child is one of the strongest forces in the universe. It’s one of the few things on this earth that can truly be eternal.
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Certainly, the work of the temple and family history are one and the same work in the Church.
If we trust the doctrine of Christ, we will trust Christ enough to live by His every word. We will make a lifelong study of Jesus Christ, His ministry, His teachings, and His infinite Atonement, including His glorious Resurrection. We will study His promises and the conditions upon which those promises are given. As we study, we will be filled with greater love for the Lord.
Elder Evan A. Schmutz
The gospel message is a message of hope, of “good tidings of great joy,” and the means whereby all can experience peace and occasions of joy in this life and receive a fulness of joy in the life to come.
Our ability to follow Jesus Christ depends upon our strength and power to live the first and second commandments with balance and equal devotion.
In a contentious and divided world, I testify that the Savior Jesus Christ is the great unifier. May I invite each of us to be worthy of the Savior’s invitation to “be one” and to boldly declare, as He did, “Ye are my friends.” In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder David L. Buckner
For Latter-day Saints, the Sabbath is a day of gratitude and love.
The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again!
When we ignore the distractions of the world and focus on Christ and His gospel, we are guaranteed success.
Elder I. Raymond Egbo
President Russell M. Nelson has said, “I promise that as you prayerfully study the Book of Mormon every day, you will make better decisions—every day.” He also promises that if “you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be immunized against the evils of the day.”
The branches of your testimony will draw strength from your deepening faith in Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son.

Obstacles will come. Let us not wait for things to get hard before turning to God. Let us not wait until the end of our mortal lives to truly repent. Instead, let us now, no matter which part of the covenant path we are on, focus on the redemptive power of Jesus Christ and on Heavenly Father’s desire for us to return to Him.
The Lord’s house, His holy scriptures, His holy prophets and apostles inspire us to strive towards personal holiness through the doctrine of Christ.
-Elder Jorge M. Alvarado
I KNOW THAT
THE BOOK OF MORMON
IS TRUE.
I know that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is mighty to save. As the Son of God, who atoned for the sins of the world and laid down His own life and took it up again, He holds the power of redemption and resurrection. He has made possible immortality for all and eternal life for those who choose Him. I know that through His atoning sacrifice, we can repent and truly be cleansed and redeemed. It is a miracle He loves you and me in this way.
-Sister Kristin M. Yee
Of course, holiness to the Lord in everyday life includes coming more often to the Lord in His holy house. This is true whether we are Church members or friends.
Good Morning!
Following the Lord’s will in our life will enable us to find the most precious pearl in the world—the kingdom of heaven.
If I think celestial, I know that we are not left alone in this life. While we must face challenges and trials, our Heavenly Father knows our capabilities and knows we can bear or overcome our difficulties. We must do our part and turn to Him in faith. His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, is our rescuer and will always be there. In His name, the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Elder Juan Pablo Villar
I bear witness of the sacred work of teaching Heavenly Father’s children the simple doctrine of Jesus Christ, which allows us to be spiritually cleansed and ultimately be welcomed into God’s presence, to live with Him and His Son in glory forever in families. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
President Henry B. Eyring
God’s work and glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. The experiences of mortality are part of the journey that allows us to grow and progress toward that immortality and eternal life. We were not sent here to fail but to succeed in God’s plan for us.
Elder Brook P. Hales
Christ’s charity—evident in complete loyalty to divine will—persisted and continues to persist.
President Jeffrey R. Holland
