How was the first general assembly for this school year? We hope you acquainted yourselves with the internal matters and getting a sneak peek at the exciting upcoming events for our association. It was wonderful to see everyone come together and bond over shared goals and interests.

On August 16, 2024, the Biological Sciences Graduate Students' Association held its first general assembly at the CAS Auditorium. The event was attended by both new and ongoing graduate students of CMU-IBS together with our very supportive BSGSA Advisers. With insightful discussions, fun games, and strategic planning for our future endeavors, the assembly was a good start to what promises to be an incredible year.

As of August 07, 2024, the CMU Institute of Biological Sciences held a student orientation at CAS Auditorium, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, introducing the CMU structural chart, faculties and staff, tackling the rules and regulations of the school, and what to expect in this academic year. As new sihays join our diverse community of different divisions, they must be well-informed of the house rules imposed by the university, college, and the Institute of Biological Sciences. Through this orientation, we build connections through our fellow students, faculty, and graduates.

The officers of the Biological Sciences Graduate Students Association (BSGSA) held their first strategic planning session for the academic year 2024-2025 yesterday, July 4, 2024, at the College of Education bench. The meeting was a productive start to the upcoming new academic year, marked by collaborative and forward-thinking discussions.

During the meeting, the team discussed the following:
• Organization's registration ensuring all paperwork and formalities are up-to-date and complied for seamless operations.
• Revisions of the Constitution and By-Laws (CBL) involve reviewing and updating governing documents to reflect current needs and goals.
• Updates on the financial status, which include a thorough review of the organization's financial health for transparency and accountability.
• The making of the calendar of activities and its budget, planning an exciting lineup of events and activities for the year, along with practical budgeting to maximize resources
• Lastly, other organizational matters were addressed to ensure the smooth running of BSGSA.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with clear action items and a renewed sense of purpose among the officers. Here’s to a successful and impactful year ahead for the BSGSA! 🌱

The Biological Sciences Graduate Students Association (BSGSA) proudly announces the disbursement of financial assistance to exceptional undergraduates in the BS Biology program. The unification of the extension activity has beneficial factors that were considered, both for the chosen barangay and the student organizations. The unified extension activity will ensure that the University, through its student organizations will leave a great contributary impact on the adopted barangay and will be able to see a visible growth and development brought by the series of activities planned by the organization.

The morning session commenced with an enlightening S*x Education and Teenage Pregnancy Seminar, and as the day unfolded, transitioned into the empowering TESDA Seminar and Workshop.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all who contributed to this meaningful endeavor. To our esteemed speakers, your valuable insights contributed to a fulfilling learning experience. To Barangay Dologon, we are grateful for the assistance that ensured the smooth ex*****on of this activity. On January 24, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the Biological Sciences Graduate Students Association (BSGSA) marked a significant milestone with their successful general assembly and officer elections, conducted via the Google Meet platform.

Dr. Emmanuel P. Leaño, representing IBS Director Dr. Reggie Y. Dela Cruz, set the tone by extending a warm welcome to members for the upcoming semester. Dr. Glenda Z. Doblas provided invaluable insights, presenting graduate school guidelines and policies, aiding students in navigating the requirements of their graduate studies. BSGSA officers also showcased their dedication by presenting accomplishment reports for the 1st semester of the academic year 2023-2024. The financial status was transparently outlined, and exciting plans for the 2nd semester were unveiled, promising a dynamic and engaging academic period. The highlight of the event was the election of new officers for the academic year 2024-2025. Mr. Gio Patrick A. Balansag emerged as the new BSGSA Chairperson, ready to lead the association into a successful future. Dr. Joliesa Mae S. Toledo closed the program with thoughtful remarks, reflecting on the achievements and looking forward to the exciting journey ahead. The event concluded on a high note with a group photo capturing the camaraderie and unity among the BSGSA members.

This assembly not only signifies the success of the BSGSA but also sets the stage for a promising and collaborative academic year. Congratulations to the newly elected officers and all members involved! ✨
