When a fire breaks out, every second counts. Having a clear, practiced evacuation plan and knowing how to use safety equipment can mean the difference between disaster and survival.

On 10 November 2024, Pavia Fire Station personnel headed by FCINSP MICHAEL B SALVACION, Municipal Fire Marshal conducted a fire drill evaluation at Jentec Cold Storage Inc.

Emergency Response Unit of the said establishment was going through the motions by displaying a well coordinated response within its their organization, fast and efficient evacuation and showcasing their proficiency in their firefighting techniques and first aid.

The final week of our OJT program was nothing short of intense and rewarding. This week, our interns from the PHINMA- University of Iloilo have completed and finished their last skill which is the continuation of Basic Rope and Rescue Techniques. Further, before their journey ends, they put their skills to the ultimate test in a Field Training Exercise (FTX), showcasing everything they’ve learned since day one.

Here’s a breakdown of the action-packed week:

Rappelling - As the continuation of the familiarization of BRRT, the interns took on basic rappelling techniques, overcoming heights and demonstrating trust in their training and equipment.

Agility Test Simulation - A hands-on simulation of the agility test, designed to mirror the recruitment assessments in the Uniform Service. Trainees gave it their all, proving their physical and mental readiness from performing Push-ups, Sit-ups, Hose Carry, Pull-ups, 100 m Sprints and 3km run.

Field Training Exercise of all acquired skills since day one from
Medical First Responder Skills, Basic Rope & Rescue Techniques
and Firefighting Techniques. The interns responded with all their efforts and acquired skills on medical emergencies such as partial structural collapsed victim extrication, vehicular extrication, mass casualty incident. On BRRT are ladder assist rescue and patient packaging and on Firefighting are emergency rescue transfers and firefighting operations.

This week was not just about skill development, it was also a key evaluation point for both the trainees and instructors. Everyone came together to demonstrate the teamwork, discipline, and expertise needed in critical situations.

It’s been an incredible journey watching them grow from day one to this moment on inhibiting real-world application. We're proud of all their hard work, and grateful for the dedication.

Personnel of Pavia Fire Station headed by 𝐅𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐄𝐋 𝐁 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐍, Municipal Fire Marshal has geared up for the whirlwind of activities for today and the days ahead. Here’s a closer look at our packed agenda:

𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 at the KAYA FC Invitational Football Tournament U17. Our team was on-site at Paulino Alcantara Football Stadium, Hacienda Verde Subdivision, Brgy. Ungka II, Pavia, Iloilo this 30 October 2024. The team provided immediate care to two (2) injured athletes, first patient sustained suspected fracture on his right arm and the second patient sustained abdominal pain due to an accidental collision midgame.

In addition, another team was deployed at the Pavia Municipal and Catholic Cemeteries to cater any emergency medical cases.

𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 with the Municipal Peace and Order Council members attended by SFO1 Mark Anthony H Celiz, Chief, Operations Section, the meeting tackled several concerns amd protocols for the preparation of the much-anticipated Tigkaralag Festival to be held this 30 October 2024.

Pavia Fire Station First Aid Service Team headed by 𝗙𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗘𝗟 𝗕 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗢𝗡, Municipal Fire Marshal is set to support the first-ever 𝑲𝑨𝒀𝑨 𝑭𝑪 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑼17 players. This exciting tournament features delegates from Metro Manila, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, and two international clubs in Asia, showcasing young talent on an international stage from 28 October to 03 November 2024.

This 28 October 2024, our team has been on the field providing support and first aid to the few players who experienced muscle cramps, they received prompt care and were able to recover quickly, getting back to the action in no time. There were no serious injuries occurred during the tournament, those who suffered muscle cramps refused for further treatment.

Our trained and dedicated team will be present throughout the tournament, ready to provide immediate medical assistance and ensure that all players, coaches, and officials are safe and sound.

As the solemn observance of All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day approaches, Pavia Fire Station headed by 𝗙𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗘𝗟 𝗕 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗢𝗡, Municipal Fire Marshal is taking measures to raise awareness and ensure a fire-safe environment for the community through the activation of Oplan Kaluluwa.

Oplan Kaluluwa is designed to heighten awareness of fire safety practices, particularly in places where large crowds gather to pay their respects. With the tradition of lighting candles and using other open flames, the risk of fire hazards increases, making safety precautions paramount. Thus, through the activation, this station has posted Tarpaulins to conspicuous areas and conducted "Rekoridas" to its area of responsibility.

This activity serves as a timely reminder of the importance of fire safety as families gather to honor their departed loved ones during this meaningful time.

In the wake of Tropical Cyclone Kristine, Pavia Fire Station personnel headed by FCINSP MICHAEL B SALVACION, Municipal Fire Marshal have mobilized in coordination and command by MDRRMO Pavia to tackle the effects of the said storm by clearing fallen trees and branches that are obstructing roads which were posted as hazards at Brgy. Jibao-an and Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo.

The team strategically assessed and removed the said hazards to ensure that emergency services can operate smoothly and residents can travel safely.

Pavia Fire Station headed by FCINSP MICHAEL B SALVACION conducted fire drill evaluation to Robinsons Place Pavia this 23 October 2024. This drill is a foundational step towards creating safer mall environment in line with the requirements set forth by RA 9514 and evaluate the readiness of mall staff and security personnel in implementing fire evacuation procedures.

Through the conduct of this drill this identified weaknesses and reinforcing effective practices, malls can ensure that they are ultimately prepared for any fire emergency, prioritizing the safety of all individuals present.

Evaluators revealed several critical insights during the debriefing with the Mall's Fire brigade to discuss challenges and successes, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

As forecasts predict an imminent storm in response to the effects of Tropical Cyclone "KRINSTINE", Pavia Fire Station headed by FCINSP MICHAEL B SALVACION, Municipal Fire Marshal are ramping up efforts to ensure operational readiness in all their assets. With safety as the top priority, these preparations are essential to protect personnel, resources and the community.

Further, intensification of OPLAN PAGHALASA, continuous monitoring of PAGASA weather advisories and vigilant monitoring of area of responsibility has been observed on this weather disturbance this 22 October 2024.

In the realm of emergency response, the Bureau of Fire Protection plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety. It is vital to recognize the importance of ongoing training especially for non-specialized forces as emergency situations demand quick thinking and precise actions for initial responders. In the ever-evolving community in Pavia, continuous training is not just beneficial, it is essential. This station is dedicated in maintaining the highest standards of service for the community and investment within its personnel's skills.

To this end, this station under the leadership of FCINSP MICHAEL B SALVACION, Municipal Fire Marshal conducted a Skills Proficiency Initiative aimed at honing the essential skills of all rescue personnel in this station. Skills proficiency conducted were Basic Rappelling and Ascending techniques dated this 19 October 2024.
