OWWA RWO 3 Empowers Scholars with Mental Health Strategies
On July 5-6, 2024, OWWA RWO 3 hosted an enriching Learning Support Program (LSP) at Le Charme Suites, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, aimed at equipping ODSP and EDSP scholars with essential mental health skills.
Almost 100 new scholars from Pampanga, Bataan, and Zambales participated in the two-day event, facilitated by the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital Team led by esteemed mental health professional Dr. Ruby Lynda T. Reyes.
Dr. Reyes shared practical strategies such as mindfulness techniques, stress management exercises, and effective communication skills to help students navigate mental and emotional challenges.
One participant shared, "The topic discussed is something na kailangan po talaga namin. I am very happy to participate in this activity because it is a relevant issue na ayaw pag-usapan freely po. This event somehow helped us be open to these possibilities."

Day 2: Learning Support Program for OWWA Scholars
On the second day of the Learning Support Program (LSP) of OWWA for the new EDSP and ODSP scholars for S.Y. 2023-2024, the participants tackled issues on mental health together with Dr. Irene G. Bustos on June 22, 2024 at the Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija.
The activity, entitled "Balancing Act - Nurturing Mental and Emotional Well-being" focused on the students' mental health and current issues the youth are facing on this sensitive topic.
Series of workshops and activities followed which were beneficial in the awareness of the participants on the topic on mental health.
After the activity, certificate of appreciation was awarded to Dr. Bustos for her contribution as resource speaker for the OWWA scholars. Education and Training Unit Head for EDSP, Sir Henry F. Romulo gave the closing message marking the end of the two-day activity.

Day 1: Learning Support Program for OWWA Scholars
The OWWA RWO 3 conducts the Learning Support Program for New OWWA Scholars (S.Y. 2023 - 2024) on June 21 - 22, 2024 at the Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija.
95 OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP) and Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) scholars attended the first run of the LSP for the year 2024. 17 scholars were from the province of Aurora, 29 from Tarlac and 49 from Nueva Ecija.
The program was formally opened with a special message from Ms. Jeniffer A. Morales, OIC for the Programs and Services Division. The seminar and workshop with a topic on Fostering Self-Understanding towards Servant Leadership followed conducted by Dr. Angeli T. Austria of CLSU.
Prior to the start of the program, the scholars and OWWA RWO 3 staff were also given a tour inside the university with the help of Dr. Jayson Marzan.
