Ngayong araw ipinagdiriwang ang ika-174 taong anibersaryo ng kapanganakan ni Marcelo H. del Pilar, sa kaniyang dambana at museo sa San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan, na may temang “ Marcelo H. del Pilar: Mga Likha at Aral, Pundasyon ng Kahapon, Inspirasyon ng Darating na Panahon”.

Kinilala si Marcelo bilang isang matapang na repormista ng kanyang panahon dahil sa maaanghang na satiriko na kanyang isinulat laban sa mga prayle. Gumamit ng mga sagisag-panulat tulad ng Dolores Manapat, Siling Labuyo, Piping Dilat, Plaridel, at iba pa. Itinatag niya ang pahayagang La Solidaridad kasama sina Jose Rizal, Mariano Ponce at Graciano Lopez Jaena na naglimbag ng unang isyu noong ika-15 ng Pebrero, 1889. Ilan sa kanyang mahahalagang ambag sa ating panitikan ay ang: Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa na unang lumabas sa Diariong Tagalog noong ika-20 ng Agosto, 1882; Caiigat Cayo na inilathala sa Barcelona, Espanya noong 1888; Dasalan at Tocsohan; Ang Cadaquilaan nang Dios ; Sagot ng Espanya sa Hibik ng Pilipinas; La Soberania Monacal en Filipinas at ang La Frailocracia en Filipinas.

Noong ika-24 ng Agosto, ang Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Scout Valeriano Abello Community Scouting ay nakilahok sa Biyahe ni Sarao Exhibit, na may temang "HistoEx: History to Experience", isang mahalagang kaganapan sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Kasaysayan 2024. Sa Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2, Cubao, Quezon City, ang SCOVA Scouts ay lubusang nakibahagi sa programang bigay ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines, ang mayamang kasaysayan at kahalagahang pangkultura ng Sarao Jeepney. Sa kanilang paglalakbay, kanilang nasaksihan ang ebolusyon ng jeepney na naging simbolo ng katatagan, pagkamalikhain, at diwa ng ating lahi.

Last August 26, 2024, SCOVA Scouts joined the nation in commemorating the National Heroes Day at Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City, headed by the leadership of His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the President of the Republic of the Philippines and also the 8th Chief Scout of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

We remember our heroes of the past and present. Those who have fought for our freedom and sovereignty. As we lay wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, we commit to upholding democracy, the rule of law, and our shared national identity.

Commemoration of 134th Birth Anniversary of Hon. Jorge Bartolome Vargas y Celis

Today, in commemoration of 134th birth anniversary of Hon. Jorge Bartolome Vargas, one of the Founding Fathers of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, the SCOVA Scouts, led by ES-SA Christian Jiggs Mistica, visited the Vargas Museum at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, in coordination with the Museum Researcher. This visit was not just a tribute but also an educational journey into the life and legacy of a man who played a significant role in both the history of our nation and in the development of Scouting in the Philippines.

The Vargas Museum houses an extensive collection of art, stamps, coins, and personal memorabilia donated by Hon. Jorge Vargas himself. This museum, inaugurated in 1987, stands as a testament to Vargas' commitment to preserving Philippine heritage and culture. Among the exhibits, the Scouts discovered rare stamps, vintage coins, and historical documents, all of which offered a glimpse into the past and a deeper understanding of Vargas' influence.

Hon. Jorge Vargas was not only instrumental in government and diplomacy, but he also made significant contributions to sports and Scouting. He was a key figure in the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation and became the first Filipino to serve as a lifetime member of the International Olympic Committee. His passion for youth development is evident in his involvement with the Boy Scouts, where his leadership helped shape the organization into what it is today.

As the Scouts toured the museum, they learned about Vargas' dedication to education, culture, and the empowerment of the Filipino youth values that continue to inspire generations. This visit reminded them that Scouting is more than just an activity; it's a movement deeply rooted in the history and heritage of the Philippines, shaped by leaders like Hon. Jorge Bartolome Vargas y Celis.

Ang pagbisitang ito ay isinagawa sa pakikipagtulungan kay Mx. Ryan Tan, Shrine Curator II ng Presidential Car Museum sa ilalim ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines. Ang museo ay pansamantalang hindi bukas sa pampubliko sa kadahilanang ito ay nasa renobasyon, sapagkat napagbigyan ang SCOVACOMSCO na bumisita sa tulong ni Mx. Ryan Tan.

Ang Museo ng Pangulong Sasakyan ay naglalaman ng mga sasakyang ginamit ng mga dating Pangulo ng Pilipinas, sumasalamin sa iba't ibang yugto ng ating kasaysayan at paglilingkod sa bayan. Ang mga sasakyang ito ay simbolo ng makasaysayang pamumuno ng mga Pangulo na nag-alay ng kanilang talino at tapang sa pagpapaunlad ng ating bansa.

Matapos ang pagbisita, pinangunahan ni ES-SA Christian Jiggs Mistica ang mga SCOVA Scouts sa pagdalaw sa libingan ni Pangulong Manuel Luis Quezon y Molina, sa pakikipagtulungan kay Ms. Janice Tambo, Curator ng Museo ni Manuel Quezon sa Quezon Memorial Circle, Diliman, Quezon City. Dito ay isinagawa ang pagbibigay-pugay at paggunita sa ika-146 na Kaarawan ng Pangalawang Pangulo ng Bansa, Ama ng Wikang Pambansa, at Tagapagtatag ng Boy Scouts of the Philippines sa ilalim ng panukalang batas na Commonwealth Act. 111 na sa ngayo'y Republic Act. 7278.

PLEDGE FOR SCOUT SCARF DAY 2024!⚜️🎉⚜️🎉

SCOVACOMSCO Scouts and Aspirants joins the most awaited activity in world scout movement, the World Scout Scarf Day, where scouts and former scouts wear their scarf to the public to show the spirit of scouting to their communities! This includes showing their pledge to keep their promise, and principles of scouting to do a good turn daily!

To fully appreciate World Scout Scarf Day, it’s important to understand the roots of scouting itself. The Experimental Camp began in 1907, on August 1-9 when British Army officer Robert Baden-Powell took 22 boys on a camping trip to Brownsea Island in England. This experimental camp aimed to teach young people skills in outdoor survival, teamwork, and citizenship.

Baden-Powell’s 1908 book “Scouting for Boys” sparked widespread interest, leading to the rapid growth of scouting groups across the globe. The movement’s emphasis on personal development, outdoor skills, and community service resonated with youth and adults alike, transcending national and cultural boundaries.

World Scout Scarf Day is a relatively recent addition to the scouting calendar, originating in 2007 through a collaborative effort of scout groups worldwide.

⚜️⚜️🏞️THE RISE OF SCOVAROCI IN 14TH NATIONAL ROVER MOOT🏞️⚜️⚜️

The 14th National Rover Moot in Irosin, Sorsogon was a remarkable event, actively participated by Ilocos Region-Eastern Pangasinan Council, Scout Valeriano Abello Rover Circle Contingent.

Our dedicated rover scouts experienced a remarkable moment, enriching activities, fostering camaraderie, skills development, and community service. The first day marked the opening of 14th National Rover Moot, following the first and second day immersion marked the beginning of community engagement experience where participants took part with the local community, initiating service projects at Santo Domingo Elementary School.

The third day featured the Scout's Go Solar, Pili Keychain Making Activities, etc., followed by a National Court of Honor for Chief Scout's Nation-Builder, recognizing the achievements and contributions of the rovers, specially our Rover Scout Christopher John Versoza, ESA, who first received his award among the recipients, and gave his challenge to the awardees, followed by a grand campfire that ignited the night with performances, reflections, and strengthened bonds among scouts from the region.

The final day involved packing up and reflecting on the experiences gained, with scouts ensuring they left the campsite as they found it, embodying the principle of leaving no trace and showing respect for the environment.

This Rover Moot not only strengthened our skills and friendships but also reinforced our commitment to service and leadership. We look forward to bringing the lessons and experiences from Irosin back to our communities, continuing to live by the values of Scouting.

BRIGADA ESKWELA DAY 3/LAST DAY: "Bayanihan Para Sa Matatag na Paaralan"

LAST JULY 26, 2024, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Scout Valeriano Abello Community Scouting took part in the 3rd and last Day of Brigada Eskwela 2024 at Fort Bonifacio High School, J.P. Rizal Extension, Brgy. West Rembo, Taguig City and other sponsoring institutions, joined by SCOVA Rover and Senior Scout Aspirants, embracing the theme, "Bayanihan Para Sa Matatag na Paaralan," held on July 26, 2024.

SCOVACOMSCO Scouts, led by ES-SA Christian Jiggs Mistica, Jr. Assistant Outfit Advisor, in coordination with Mr. John Marlon Ibanez, FBHS Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, worked tirelessly throughout the day. Their efforts resulted in the successful cleaning and organizing of the school's garden area. The Scouts cleaned up the garden, ensuring a fresh and welcoming environment for the new school year.

The SCOVA Aspirants also participated in their Brigada Eskwela activities in their respective institutions. One of the institutions where they contributed was Diosdado Macapagal High School, by RS Shamier Yhvone Torocio, and in Captain Aguilar National High School, RS Alyssa B. Benavidez.

The collaborative spirit and dedication displayed by the Scouts and community members highlight the essence of "bayanihan," making a tangible impact on the school and setting a positive example for others to follow.

⚜️⚜️ON OUR HONOR, WE DID OUR BEST⚜️⚜️

Today, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Scout Valeriano Abello Community Scouting solemnly commemorated SCOUT MEMORIAL DAY, marking the 61st Death Anniversary of the 24 Filipino Scouts and Leaders of the Official Philippine Contingent to the 11th World Scout Jamboree in Marathon, Greece, 1963. This event was held on July 28, 2024, at the ALA-ALA MAUSOLEUM, MANILA NORTH CEMETERY.

The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt mass, followed by a solemn flower offering led by the BSP Secretary General, SG Kim De Leon, and other distinguished guests. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and respect as we honored the memory of those brave souls who represented our country with pride and dedication.

In addition to the commemoration, we paid our respects at the tomb of one of the Founding Fathers of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Col. Joseph Emile H. Stevenot, at La Loma Catholic Cemetery. This visit further deepened our connection to the rich history and enduring legacy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

Let us continue to honor their memory and strive to embody the values and spirit of Scouting in our daily lives.
