Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Society of Jesus places importance on a specific spiritual devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, focusing on the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. As a community in the Ignatian Spirituality, we are invited to develop an inner understanding of Christ that reaches its pinnacle in the “Contemplation to Attain Love,” enabling us “to love and serve in all things.” To pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is to respond to His love by expressing our own love for Him and for all that He cherishes.

Today, we reflect on the life and legacy of St Ignatius and walk with him in...

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗼
Iñigo lived in Arévalo between 1507 and 1517, from ages 16 to 26. Little remains today of this place's royal past, but you can imagine Iñigo as a teenager, being trained in courtly ways in the service of Juan Velazquez de Cuellar, Chief Accountant of the Kingdom of Castile. It was during these years that Iñigo stopped being a boy and became a man... and all that that meant in those days.

At Arévalo, Iñigo had the opportunity to advance in a refined, politically important environment. The religiosity of the time was typical; some were firm believers, while others were rather given to the good life. When the Velazquez family fell from grace, Inigo had to leave Arévalo and set out on his own path. With boldness he made his way through the world of possibilities that lay before him.

Try with patience to name the "wood" with which God has worked in the past, is working now, and wants to continue working in the future: your aptitudes, education, internalized values, the things that make you who you are.

Happy Fiesta Month to all! 🥳🎇🎈

We will walk with St Ignatius as we reflect on his life and legacy. The first half of this Ignatian Month will be a journey to the different important places to the life of our founder and would hopefully lead us to a reflection of our own journey with God and our spiritual lives.

𝗟𝗼𝘆𝗼𝗹𝗮 (𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟭)
Two events make Loyola the destination of countless pilgrims today: the birth of Iñigo Lopez de Loyola in 1491 and his conversion in 1521.

In his autobiography Ignatius says nothing about his birth or his first years of life, but those years were for him, as for any person, fundamental. It is in that early stage that our personality is forged and our being takes root.

Iñigo was the youngest of thirteen siblings, born into a noble family closely linked with the spheres of power of that time. The family practiced a traditional Christian religiosity but did not always adhere to a morality consistent with the principles they professed. Iñigo's mother died when he was very young. Taking charge of his upbringing were his brother Martin's wife, Magdalena de Araoz, and the wife of the blacksmith of Loyola, Maria Garin; she lived in the Eguibar house, which still exists near the Sanctuary. The humble and the noble went hand in hand in the first education he received.

𝘗𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳
The culture we have received and the situations in which we have lived (education, family, values, persons, places, etc.) have shaped us; they make up what we call "our roots". Consider all the significant things that influenced your childhood. How would you describe your roots? Place in the Lord's hands everything that marked that stage of your life, whether to recover it, to nurture it, or to heal it.

Happy Fiesta Month to all! 🥳🎇🎈

INVITATION | Sunday Noon Mass
"And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." - Acts 2:21

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University invites everyone to come and accept the blessings of our Lord during the Sunday Noon Mass at the University Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Salvador Campus, La Purisima.

This will also be the last airing of the regular Sunday Mass via our AdZU Facebook Live.

As we anticipate for the coming of the Holy Week, let us continue on our personal journeys of sacrifice and repentance as we walk along the path that leads to the Cross.

Enter the house of our Lord in person together with your family, loved ones, and friends and together, as one community, let us lay our doubts and worries upon the foot of the Cross and pray for hearts that are steadfast and unfaltering during this season of Lent.

INVITATION | AdZU CHRISTMAS LOVE DRIVE 2022 LAUNCHING

A "Work of Love" is a piece of hard labor that you do because you appreciate it rather than because you will be rewarded or praised for it or because you are obligated to do it.

It's that time of year when we spread love in a number of ways. This is the season when we may claim that we can freely provide love in this world in our own little ways. Why not begin with our community, our city?

The Campus Ministry Office and the Alliance of Religious Organizations cordially invite you to the AdZU Christmas Love Drive 2022 Launching on October 21, 2022, Friday, 3 PM at the Bellarmine-Campion Lobby.

Together, !
