CHED IX KICKS-OFF SIKAP ONBOARDING CEREMONY

After months of application evaluation process, the Commission on Higher Education IX had officially kick-off its first Scholarships for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) Onboarding Ceremony last February 11, 2022 at LM Metro Hotel, Tetuan, Zamboanga City. The SIKAP program under CHED aims to address the gaps and needs of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI’s) by providing the necessary scholarship financial assistance to all Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of HEI’s nationwide, with Instructors having vertically aligned graduate degrees to their teaching discipline.

Twenty-five (25) successful SIKAP full-time grantees and one (1) SIKAP Part-time grantee were approved by the Commission after thorough application process. In the SIKAP full-time program, thirteen (13) grantees were approved from Ateneo de Zamboanga University, eleven (11) from Western Mindanao State University, one (1) from Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology. For the SIKAP part-time program, one (1) was approved under the Jose Rizal Memorial State University.

Present on the said onboarding ceremony are CHED OIC-Regional Director, Dr. Rody P. Garcia, K to 12 Permanent Alternate Focal Person and OIC-Supervising Educational Program Specialist Dr. Joe-an G. Cuaresma, other CHED staffs and officials. Also, in the event are the Grant’s Management Officers (GMO) of Delivering Higher Education Institutions (DHEI) recognized under the SIKAP program namely: Dr. Claribel C. Concepcion, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Dr. Elvira E. Salian, Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, Mr. Vinchail A. Siason alongside Dr. Maria Socorro Yvonne H. Ramos, Coordinating Dean of Graduate School, Western Mindanao State University and Jose Rizal Memorial State University in the digital online platform.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office IX had conducted an Orientation and Consultation meeting with the 1st batch of SIKAP Grantees in the Region.

The Grant Agreement duly signed and notarized were also distributed during the event, binding the Grantees with their responsibilities as a Scholar of the Commission and the CHED RO9 as an implementing agency of the Scholarship.

This is being offered to FACULTY and STAFF of CHED Accredited HEIs to acquire GRADUATE Degree.

Just to clarify that the SIKAP Scholarship is being offered to TEACHING and NON-TEACHING Personnel of a CHED Accredited Higher Education Institutions to acquire GRADUATE DEGREE that are Vertically aligned to their Discipline.

We are inviting all interested applicants (FACULTY and STAFF of CHED Accredited HEIs) for PART-TIME Scholarship to attend the Orientation tomorrow, October 22, 2021 at 9:00 in the morning.

This Scholarship Grant is being offered to Faculty and Staff of HEIs that are enrolled or will enroll in a GRADUATE PROGRAM.
