Due to an updated Severe General Flood Advisory from PAGASA and anticipated heavy rains and localized flooding today, September 17, 2024, the following adjustments are in place for our Academic Operations at the Salvador Campus of Ateneo de Zamboanga University:

FOR COLLEGE: There will be NO IN-PERSON CLASSES starting 12:30 PM onward. Please transition to online and asynchronous classes as necessary. Students are advised to vacate the campus and proceed home safely.

FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: Grade 12 Examinations scheduled for this afternoon are postponed to a later date, but examinations for tomorrow, September 18, will proceed as scheduled, weather permitting.

We encourage everyone to take precautions and monitor official announcements for further updates. Thank you for your cooperation.

NO HAY CLASE, NO HAY TRABAJO | Ninoy Aquino Day and National Heroes Day 2024

Following Proclamation No 665 recently released by the Malacañang Palace, the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day has been moved from AUGUST 21, 2024 to AUGUST 23, 2024 to provide for a longer weekend in the country and to promote domestic tourism.

AUGUST 26, 2024 will also be observed as a regular holiday in celebration of the National Heroes Day. This follows Proclamation 368.

There will be no work and classes on these dates.

JUST IN | Univ. Pres. Fr. Andal declares July 30 as Day of Prayer, Solidarity; calls off work after mass

Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) University President Father Guillrey Anthony "Ernald" M. Andal, SJ, declares July 30, 2024 as a Day of Prayer and Solidarity and calls off work in all offices after mass, per Memorandum 24-25:14 released via AdZU email.

Fr. Andal, the main presider and preacher of the mass, encouraged the AdZU community in the memo to gather at the University Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 1:00 PM, as the day also coincides with the last day of the novena masses of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Furthermore, Fr. Andal stated that the prayer is for “the eternal repose of our beloved student's soul and for comfort for those who mourn."

He also declared July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, as a university holiday.

CLASSES and REGULAR WORK in all AdZU campuses are SUSPENDED TODAY, JULY 13, 2024 due to continuous heavy rains and flooding in parts of the city, which may pose safety concerns for our students and personnel.

The city government's Emergency Operations Center has been activated and is operating 24/7. Rescue operations are ongoing in affected areas. For emergencies, please contact the CDRRMO at the following hotline numbers:

Former St Ignatius of Loyola Merit Scholar, Therese Marie B. Aburquez, tops Special Boards for Teachers!

JUST IN | SLA ALUMNA TOPS SPECIAL BOARDS FOR TEACHERS

Therese Marie Bartolome Aburquez, an alumna of the AdZU School of Liberal Arts’ BA International Studies program, ranked 8th in the June 2024 Special Professional Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary, as announced by the Profession Regulation Commission earlier today, July 5.

Therese currently works as an English lecturer at Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University in Thailand. She also holds a master’s degree in Human Rights from Mahidol University in Thailand. She earned her bachelor’s degree in International Studies from AdZU SLA in 2018 as the Class Salutatorian and sole magna cm laude honoree of her batch.

The Special Professional Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers is an exam given to Overseas Filipino Workers or OFWs to measure their competencies in the field of education and enhance their employability in the global labor market.

Therese’s triumph is a manifestation of the School of Liberal Arts’ holistic formation of its students, guaranteeing success in any field they venture into. If she could do it, you could too!

Processing of IDs will be from July 2-23, 2024. To give way to the Orientation Seminar (OrSem), ID processing will resume on July 29.
