We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Dr. Rukhshanda Jabeen's PhD in Development Studies! Her thesis titled 'Challenges and Opportunities of Participatory Forest Management Practices in Siran Forest Valley, Pakistan' delved deep into the dynamics of community involvement in forest management, shedding light on both the triumphs and trials of joint forest management (JFM) initiatives. She was supervised by Associate Professor (tenured) Dr. Noor Elahi.

Dr. Rukhshanda's research journey encapsulated years of dedicated work, encompassing a thorough exploration of the participation levels of communities in forest management, the equitable distribution of benefits, and the identification of challenges and opportunities within the Siran Forest division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Through meticulous data collection and analysis methodologies, Dr. Rukhshanda engaged with diverse stakeholders, unraveling insights that underscored the vital role of collaborative efforts in sustaining forest resources and enhancing livelihoods.

Her findings illuminated the significant impact of JFM on forest conservation, livelihood opportunities, and community empowerment. Yet, they also highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in ensuring inclusive decision-making processes and addressing gender disparities in participation.
