Conferment of Pakistan’s Civil Award “Sitara I Quaid I Azam” to former Polish Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Piotr Opalinski

Pursuant to the decision of the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Embassy of Pakistan in Warsaw organized a formal ceremony today (04 April 2024) to confer Civil Award “Sitara I Quaid I Azam” to former Polish Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Piotr Opalinski. The award was presented to Ambassador Opalinski by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Poland Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon.
Ambassador Opalinski was conferred the award for his meritorious services to bring Pakistan and Poland further closer in the fields of political relations, trade and economy, defence, energy cooperation and culture, during his two tenures in Pakistan collectively spanning over twelve years: first as Deputy Head of Mission at Polish Embassy in Islamabad (1999-20015) and then as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan (2015-2021).

Falg Hoisting Ceremony on the occasion of Pakistan Day (23rd March)

Embassy of Pakistan in Warsaw organized a solemn Ceremony on the occasion of Pakistan Day (23 March).
The Ceremony started with recitation of Holy Quran, followed by National Anthem and flag hoisting by Ambassador Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon. Messages of the leadership on the occasion were also read out.

The Ceremony was attended by a cross section of Pakistani community in Poland. The Ambassador welcomed the community members, highlighting importance of the Pakistan Day (23 March 1940) in the democratic struggle led by the Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to secure an independent homeland in 1947.

On 20 November 2023, the Convention for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance between the Governments of Pakistan and the Republic of Estonia was signed in Tallinn.
H. E. Mr. Margus Tsahkna, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Republic of Estonia signed the Convention on behalf of the Estonian government while Dr. Khalid H. Memon, Ambassador of Pakistan to Estonia (resident in Warsaw) signed from Pakistan.

The signing of the Convention on Elimination of Double Taxation between the Governments of Pakistan and the Republic of Estonia would further strengthen the legal base of our bilateral relations to promote trade and economic cooperation. Pakistan looks forward to engaging the Estonian side to forge a meaningful partnership in diverse fields, including political, economy, trade, education, culture and people to people contacts.

Embassy of Pakistan, Warsaw organized its flagship event "the Mango Festival" on 24 August 2023. The event was attended by Ambassadors, diplomats, Trade/Commercial Counsellors from various Embassies, Officials of Polish government, including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, businessmen and members of Pakistani community.

The participants enjoyed Pakistani mangoes and food delicacies containing mangoes.

Independence Day Celebrated in Poland

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Independence Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held in the Embassy today. A cross section of the Pakistan Community living in Warsaw and adjoining cities, attended the event. The ceremony started with recitation of the Holy Quran. Ambassador Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon hoisted the national flag. Messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

Ambassador Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon congratulated the community members on the Independence Day and said that the day reminded us to renew our commitment to serve our country with dedication and play our role in the progress and development of our homeland. He emphasized that struggle and sacrifices rendered by our forefathers should not be forgotten and we must work hard to achieve the cherished objectives of our ancestors to make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country.

The Ambassador emphasized that on the occasion of the Independence Day, we should not forget our Kashmiri brethren. He expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and noted that Pakistan stands by them and will continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to their just struggle for self-determination.

At the end, a cake cutting ceremony was also held. The Ambassador thanked the community members for their participation in the event as well as for their contribution in strengthening Pakistan’s relations with Poland and projecting the soft and true image of Pakistan.

connection with the Youm e Istehsal*

The Embassy of Pakistan in Warsaw organized an event today to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) due to India’s decision of 5 August 2019, in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal 2022.

The messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read out to the audience, wherein complete solidarity was expressed with Kashmiri people, condemning India’s flagrant human rights violations in IIOJK well documented by the international human rights and humanitarian organizations.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland, His Excellency Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon reiterated Pakistan’s continued unflinching political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He informed the gathering that for the past three years, Kashmiris have suffered the worst human rights violations by Indian Occupation Forces including military siege. The Ambassador called upon the international community to prevail upon India to end gross human rights
violations in Jammu and Kashmir and abide by the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council that called for the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the will of the people of Kashmir.
A screening of a documentary on Kashmir was also organized.
The event was attended by the academicians, journalists, and members of Pakistani community and Polish society in Warsaw.

*Second flight arrives Warsaw carrying 7.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid from Pakistan for People of Ukraine*

Second flight of humanitarian aid from Pakistan for the people of Ukraine arrived today at Chopin Airport Warsaw carrying 7.5 tonnes of cargo. The aid consisted of medicines, blankets, ration and food items. The humanitarian flight is part of the second consignment of humanitarian assistance from Pakistan. The first flight arrived on 1st June 2022.

The humanitarian flight was received by Malik Muhammad Farooq, Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland; Brigadier Qasim Shazad, Pakistan's Defence Attaché accredited to Poland; officials of Poland; and representatives of Ukrainian Embassy in Warsaw.

Previously, Pakistan had sent first consignment of 15 tonnes humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine on 15th March 2022.

PRESS RELEASE

Second consignment of humanitarian aid from Pakistan for the people of Ukraine arrived today at Chopin Airport Warsaw in PAF flight C-130 carrying 7.5 tonnes of cargo. The aid consisted of 112 tents, 50 bundles of Blankets and 384 lbs soaps.

The humanitarian flight was received by Malik Muhammad Farooq, Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland; Mr. Krzysztof Dobrowolski, Acting Director Asia Pacific Department of Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Brigadier Qasim Shazad, Pakistan's Defence Attaché accredited to Poland; and Colonel Vitalii Sanchenko and Lt. Colonel Andrii Anosov from the office ofUkrainian Defence Attaché.

Mr. Dobrowolski, appreciating gesture of solidarity by the people and government of Pakistan for the people of Ukraine, stressed that it was an example for other countries to show solidarity and extend help to the countries in need.
Colonel Sanchenko, underlining cordial bilateral ties between the twocountries, thanked the people and government of Pakistan for the humanitarian assistance.
The Ambassador apprecited the cooperation extended by the government of Poland to facilitate the humanitarian cargo.

The second flight, also carrying 7.5 tonnes of humanitarian cargo, is scheduled on 4th June 2022. Previously, Pakistan had sent 15 tonnes of humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine on 15 March 2022.

These country fellows were provided assistance by Pakistan Embassy in Poland regarding their transport from Poland-Ukrainian border and boarding & lodging in Warsaw.
