Now, it’s time to start talking about our next rum release.

The first rum was selected by the Tasting Committee — a group of seven rum enthusiasts who sampled and chose an exceptional spirit for all of us. Their names were printed on the front label for eternal fame 😎 This time, the process will be similar.

Who can be selected for the Committee? All current club members and those who will join the Up Spirits Club until Thursday, August 22, 20:00 CET.
So if you want to taste great rums and see your name on the final bottle, please:

2️⃣ Keep an eye out for the email describing the selection process (next few days)

Recently she has been active as Armagnac consultant, educator and a guide for those who want to discover the magic of Armagnac. Amanda has been living in Gascony for 27 years.

What's next? Several samples selected by Amanda and Edward will be sent to other Committee Members and the Chosen One will emerge.

Jeszcze nie opadł kurz po wyniku aukcji charytatywnej Christie's z 10 maja, kiedy to obraz Ewy Juszkiewicz “Portrait of a Lady (After Louis Leopold Boilly)” z 2019 roku został sprzedany za niemal 7 mln złotych (1 560 000 $) i stał się najdrożej sprzedaną pracą artystki, a już pojawił się nowy spektakularny wynik, który utwierdza pozycję artystki na międzynarodowym rynku sztuki.

Na wieczornej aukcji 26 maja w tym samym domu aukcyjnym praca "Słomkowy Kapelusz (wg Louise Elisabeth Vigee-Le Brun)" została wylicytowana za nieco ponad 4,38 mln złotych (HKD 8 064 000). Dzieło o wymiarach 170x125 cm namalowane w 2012 roku zostało zakupione w warszawskiej galerii Lokal30 i aż do teraz pozostawało w rękach jednego kolekcjonera.

"Słomkowy Kapelusz" jest przykładem portretów kobiecych, które zapoczątkowały karierę malarki na światowej scenie artystycznej. Rzucając wyzwanie konwencjonalnym przedstawieniom płci pięknej, Juszkiewicz od lat bierze na warsztat klasyczne wizerunki, podważa historyczne kanony i podkreśla historię zacierania i wymazywania kobiet, która przewija się przez całą zachodnią sztukę.

W "Słomianym Kapeluszu" Juszkiewicz prezentuje niemal dokładne odwzorowanie przełomowego obrazu Elizabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun "Autoportret w Słomianym Kapeluszu". Malując go, Le Brun wzorowała się na swoim autoportrecie na podstawie "Portretu Susanny Lunden" Rubensa, który został namalowany w jako wyraz identyfikacji z wielkim artystą i jego kobiecą bohaterką.

'Wealth Solutions' are better known in Europe as bottlers of some of world's greatest spirits, including stunning investment oriented whiskies. They’ve now introduced a new collection called The Colours of Rum. With a multi-hued minimalist presentation mostly based on country flags, these rums are released in batches - all kinds of distilleries at once, usually at significant age statements. We're kicking off with twelve beauties from Jamaica, an island that has several seats at the head of the table when it comes to true rum exotica. Sometimes difficult to describe, their aromas and flavours can evoke an almost visceral response: Rotting bananas, overripe tropical fruits and industrial or petroleum-like notes, often referred to as 'hogo' or 'funk' mean that they're polarising, but for those who are “down with the funk,” it simply doesn't get better. The more extreme examples contain elevated levels of organic compounds - esters and higher alcohols - supercharged in long fermentations by wild yeasts and dunder (residue from previous runs). We colloquially call them high ester rums. Because they're so powerful and mostly reserved for blending, you could think of them as the single malts of the Caribbean. Today, just six distilleries make various styles, some owned by large companies, some are smaller independent operations. When bottled all-natural, they offer some of the most exciting rums on the planet.

Karuizawa 1960 is one of the rarest and most valuable whiskies in the world. We are pleased and honored to offer you one of the bottles from this legendary release.

52-year-old Karuizawa 1960 is a real unicorn on the collectors’ market. It comes from the oldest vintage of the silent Japanese distillery. This whisky went on sale in 2013 for GBP 12,500 per bottle. Today its value is several dozen times higher and continues to grow. Only 41 bottles were made from sherry cask #5627 and each of them is a one-of-a-kind work of art.

The label was created on handmade paper by Norito Hasegawa and then decorated by the calligraphy master Soji Nishimoto. The wooden cabinet, modeled on traditional Japanese puzzle boxes, was made by a British artist and adorned with elements from the original sherry cask. The inscriptions on these fragments were burned with red-hot iron. Each of the 41 bottles is accompanied by a unique netsuke sculpture. Netsuke are miniature figurines, from the 17th century placed at the end of the rope, on which a bag was attached to the kimono's waist.

This thoughtful, artistic entourage only creates the setting for the delicious whisky with a strength of 53.2%. The most famous whisky critic, Serge Valentin, awarded it a whopping 93 points, writing in his review that it is characterized by "astounding complexity". We present you: Karuizawa The Last Masterpieces in Eight Colors. Karuizawa is the silent Japanese distillery, a synonym of uniqueness and rarity. The series we are offering consists of eight bottles containing spirit from the years 1999-2000 bottled at cask-strength.
