Improvisation Performance
..The fact that the houses in which we grew up and the environment from which we are coming from can still determine our needs, intrigue a lot my mind. Why do all these memories constantly drift to the surface even more in unfamiliar places? Sometimes I can feel the oppresive weight of carrying everything with me. Like a sealed room carrying all these memories and stories, in the mother tongue from which they are inseparable. The bond you carry! A solo improvisation performance created by Melina Koulia. A blend between dance and performance that explore the push-pull of repression and emancipation. How my body reacts in each state is always different.

Chaia é um projecto de criação musical, que nasce em 2022, em Águas Santas, Porto.
É composto por quatro elementos que se articulam entre guitarra, bateria, baixo, teclado, concertina e voz. Partem de uma aprendizagem autodidacta, o que leva a uma composição mais dirigida pela sensibilidade melódica e rítmica do que pela técnica académica.
Não tem um género musical fixo, influenciando-se por ritmos africanos, indie rock, rock, punk, pop, música experimental e música tradicional portuguesa, mas reconhece o seu enquadramento dentro do género pop/rock.
Interessa-se por explorar e experimentar possibilidades de combinações de movimentos sociais, culturais, filosóficos, artísticos e políticos.
