Did u know that 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟔% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 suffers from a 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞?
Yet somehow that small percentage represents the suffering of 𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. Keep in mind that this number does not include their caretakers, family and friends whose lives have also been drastically altered.
Even though medical knowledge and technology have greatly advanced there is still not enough scientific and quality information to help everyone. Furthermore, common symptoms can mask the underlying conditions of the people suffering from a rare disease and thus lead to a misdiagnosis.
Today we choose to celebrate and commemorate those who have fought and are still fighting the good fight, together, with our friends from

We continue the 7-part series with the last rare disease, 𝐕𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝'𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 (𝐕𝐖𝐃), an inheritable disorder, named after 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐤 𝐯𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝, in which your blood doesn't clot properly. People with the disease have low levels of the same name factor which promotes blood cell adhesion when you bleed, therefore if you don't have enough of it or it's not functioning effectively, bleeding won't stop as quickly. 𝐕𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝'𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 is represented by the color red ❤️

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐱𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 of the 7-part series is 𝐌𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 (𝐌𝐏𝐒), a group of genetic conditions in which the body is unable to properly deconstruct mucopolysaccharides (long chains of sugar molecules that are found all through the body). As a consequence, these sugars buildup in cells, blood and connective tissue which can result in an array of health problems. 𝐌𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 is represented by the color orange 🧡

Individuals with OI have fragile bones that break easily, frequently without an identifiable cause. Symptoms of OI can range from mild with only a few fractures to severe with many medical complications. 𝐎𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚 is represented by the color yellow 💛

#2023
November 17, internationally known as World Prematurity Day, is one of the most significant days of the year to raise awareness of the difficulties and burden of preterm delivery around the world.
Every year, a specific subject is chosen to commemorate World Prematurity Day. This theme serves to guide communication throughout the year. This year’s theme is “𝐀 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭’𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞: 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲. 𝐄𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧-𝐭𝐨-𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡.”
There are many aspects of neonatal care that might go unmentioned, from the overwhelming sounds of the unit to understanding how strong your baby is for the first time. Today, we choose to raise awareness about preterm birth, and the journey that parents and families go through, as well as the ways to care for premature babies.

Always be kind and remember that even if it’s dark, you are still able to look for the stars. ✨ Or ask for some glasses/help. 🤓

Disability is a global public health issue as well as a human right issue. People with disabilities are among the world’s most discriminated, with being about 15% of the world’s population.
As of now there are more than 1 billion people facing stigma, including over 93 million children and 720 million adults, according to WHO.
As reported by WHO, half of people with disability cannot afford healthcare. People with disability are also more likely to find healthcare providers' skills inadequate – they are four times more likely to report being treated badly and nearly three times more likely to be denied healthcare.
🌏 This is why, it should come as a priority, to every state, providing support against violence, prejudice and facing barriers to care.

There is much to learn and to create and we can only hope you will join us on this journey from our first steps in creating some special events, all the way into creating a community.
