🌱🌍 Plant a Tree, Nurture It, Save the Planet!

On Saturday 26th October 2024, Enabel staff was happy to join the residents of Akarere ka Rwamagana, and partners and participate in the launch of National Tree Planting Season 2024 themed "Plant a Tree, Nurture It, Save the Planet!"

Together, we've planted 35,000 seedlings to restore 17 hectares in Kamamana village. The seedlings and sites were prepared in collaboration with Enabel's .

Tansforming Eastern Province through Adaptation (TREPA), aspires to increase the resilience of 75,000 smallholder farmers and restore 60,000 ha of drought-prone degraded landscapes as climate-resilient ecosystems through agroforestry, soil erosion control, reforestation, and the restoration of pasturelands, including economic incentives linked with the development of value chains of climate-resilient agricultural and tree products.

The 7-year project (2021-2027) is funded the Green Climate Fund and is implemented in partnership with IUCN Rwanda, Ministry of Environment - Rwanda, Rwanda Forestry Authority RFA, Eastern Province Rwanda and other partners.

Excited for the launch of the National Tree Planting Season this Saturday, Oct 26 in Rwamagana District, Munyaga Sector, Kaduha Cell, Kamamana Village, with the Ministry of Environment - Rwanda, Rwanda Forestry Authority RFA, and all partners implementing the .

Transforming Eastern Province through Adaptation “TREPA” project aims to restore over 60,000 ha of degraded landscapes into climate-resilient ecosystems through re-forestation, agroforestry,
restoration and erosion control measures while enhancing the resilience of 75,000 smallholder farmers across Kirehe, Rwamagana, Nyagatare, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Ngoma, and Bugesera districts.

The 4th ordinary steering committee for the Decent Work and Social Protection Programme took place on October 17, 2024 at Mifotra Rwanda. Participants reviewed progress from the past 2 years and outlined actions for the fiscal year 2024-2025.

This 🇧🇪-funded and Programme aims at improving the living conditions & welfare of vulnerable citizens, especially women and youth.
The programme's steering committee, chaired by MIFOTRA
and co-chaired by Enabel, meets twice a year with implementing partners.

This 18-month coaching and training programs will focus on financial management, business planning, marketing, standards, bookkeeping as well as market linkages and facilitation to access markets and facilitate ease access to financial tools.

On September 10-11, 2024, we held a productive 2-day steering committee meeting in Huye District, Rwanda Southern Province.
Day one was dedicated to field visits, where we witnessed the impressive progress of various initiatives. Highlights included:

🌱The KOUBITE cooperative in Kamonyi District thriving in the horticulture value chain with their onion production;

🐟 University of Rwanda-Rwasave Fish Farming and Research Station (UR-RFFS) in Huye District which is expanding its hatchery facilities;

🐠 KIUM cooperative, a pond fish farming in Nyamagabe District and fish breeding centre under establishment in the same district.

Chaired by Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), and co-chaired by LuxDev - Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency and European Union in Rwanda, this bi-annual steering committee brings together Enabel in Rwanda and project implementing partners including Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development BoardI RAB, Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority, Rwanda Standards Board, National Agricultural Export Development Board Access to Finance Rwanda and ADA - Appui au Développement Autonome.
