What a journey it's been leading the UPF Lund Debate! 🚀

As we pass the torch to the new leadership crew, let's look back at some of the highlights:

🌟 Hosting 2 amazingly fun international debate tournaments
🌍 Sending our teams and judges to represent at international tournaments
🗣 Keeping those debate skills sharp with weekly Swedish & English sessions
🥳 Bringing everyone together at our lit socials and hangouts

Oh, and let's not forget generating nearly 4X more funds than we received from UPF! More cash for other committees to keep the good times rolling.

We couldn't have done it without all of you incredible members. You all brought the energy and made it a blast! 🏆

While we'll miss leading the pack, we know our successors are going to take things to new heights. Get ready for the next era of awesome!

The last weeks of the spring term we will do both our English and Swedish debates on Tuesdays!

Date: Every Tuesday
Time: 17-19:00
Place: Eden - Kvarteret Paradiset

We will always book two classrooms for our debates - those of you who would like to debate in either Swedish or English will thereby be able to do so without affecting the other debaters speaking in a different language

NOTE
English debates on Wednesdays are hereby cancelled - if you with to attend then please come every Tuesday

Last weekend, our heads of debate Seth Engellau and Tawfique Elahi had a fun and productive time at Skanör along with our fellow UPF Lund board members!

We discussed the challenges and opportunities of our organization, cooked together, had fika, sauna, and drinks, played games, and some of our brave souls had a night-time dip in the sea 🥶

We had a fun weekend at the COPENHAGEN OPEN 2024 🇩🇰

We sent a contingent of two teams and one judge to the tournament. Our novice debaters were immensely happy with the quality of the tournament and had a great learning curve! Most importantly, we all had a lot of fun!

We thank the Copenhagen Debating Society for organizing this tournament and we hope to see more such high quality tournaments in the region.

He highly recommends that you join UPF Lund, as it is an association which offers a multitude of different opportunities such as hosting high quality lectures, personally developing and rewarding debates and fun social activities such as karaoke parties to name just a few!

To those of you who would like to do more than just participate in our debate sessions but also become active members in the Debate Committee:

3) do you have debate experience (not a prerequisite but good to know)

5) do you live in Lund or somewhere else? Not a prerequisite to live in Lund, it will give us a sense of how available you might be for different tasks

6) include a screenshot of your UPF Lund membership - as you need to be a member to become active in the Debate Committee.

The purpose is to practice argumentative skills by defending the health care systems of our own countries as the model for other countries. (See picture attached)

We’re in Edilkammaren room!

From the 21st of January onwards Lund Debate Society has been immersed into the student association UPF Lund.
Some changes are to come as we update our logo and our social media but our activities will keep going.

This are great news as we can benefit from the apparatus of a well established student association and cut our costs as we focus on our main goal: developing and providing a platform for intellectual public debate and critical thinking.

We thank UPF Lund for helping Lund's debaters to pursue their goals and allowing our community to grow.
