ANNE-KARIN FURUNES //
Anne Karin Furunes has created a series of portraits of female patients from a mental hospital that once existed on the Venetian island of San Servolo, which is now a museum. The portraits, displayed on aluminum panels, were installed in situ in the museum's beautiful park.
Furunes employs a unique technique she has developed over the years, perforating aluminum panels to achieve a moiré effect. This creates haunting, large-scale images that can appear or fade depending on the viewer's position and the lighting.
The first four photos are from San Servolo, showcasing the beautiful surroundings and historical significance of the site. The last three images feature works from the same exhibition that we now have at our gallery.

Our Story
Galleri Andersson/Sandström focuses on both Nordic and international contemporary art. We exhibit both well-established artists and young emerging ones. We work across a vast artistic field, but specialize in outdoor sculpture and public commissions.
The gallery was founded in 1980 in Umeå, Sweden by Stefan Andersson, was formely owned by Stefan Andersson and Sara Sandström Nilsson and is today owned and operated by Stefan Andersson. Since 2008 we are based in Stockholm, but we still have a showroom in Umeå. Since 1994 the gallery arranges Umedalen skulptur, one of Europe’s most prominent sculpture parks, together with Balticgruppen.
////
