What are these numbers and what do they mean?
A B C
Front Wheel 20” x 8.5J ET28
Rear Wheel 20” x 9.5J ET36

A - 20” Represents the Diameter of the wheel (Ranges from 15” to 24”)

B - F8.5J / R9.5J Represents the Width & Fl**ge of the wheel (Usually represented in Inches)

C - ET28 / ET36 Represents the Offset of the wheel (This determines the depth of concave and if your wheel be flushed to fender)

Using the example above, we have customised a set of 20” wheels, 2 wheels at 8.5” width with offset 28 and 2 wheels at 9.5” width with offset 36.

Cars with different wheel specifications like the one above are on staggered setups.
Their rear wheels have thicker and deeper concave depth as compared to their front wheels.
This adds an aggressive stance and stability to their ride.

They also require 2 sets of tyres at different widths,and cannot rotate their tyres for maintenance.

Why do we use 6061 T6 to forge wheels?

6061 aluminium offers greater strength over other aluminium alloys in the 6 # # # series, which is why it is chosen for application for tough, yet light material.
It has better strength to weight ratio, offers excellent corrosion resistance and superior machinability.
It’s strength significantly increases after going through high heat and pressure treatment.

T6 refers to the degree of hardness of aluminium alloy. A T6 temper takes the alloy to heat treatment to over 900˚ F, water quenched then aged for hours at a lower temperature.
This process greatly increase the performance of the alloy’s durability, strength and corrosion resistance.
