Alhamdulillah, all praise to Allah SWT for guiding me on this incredible journey. 🎓

Graduated with Diploma in Design, Furniture & Spatial. 📜

From the corridor of my HDB to where Urban Salvation stands today. It’s been nothing short of a miracle. What started with selling pallet & local wood furniture on Carousell turned into a micro business, one of the first artisan furniture makers in Singapore.

Yet, by the third year, I almost faced closure. But I was blessed with a business partner who believed in me, and together, we hit reset. We brought reclaimed teak handcrafted artisan furniture into Singapore market to a whole new level and took on the challenge. It wasn’t easy. There were struggles, moments of doubt, but it was all worth it.

COVID hit, and we barely survived. But we kept pushing, creating piece by piece. Slowly, the media and the public began to notice our dedication to sustainable design, and more people started supporting us. This enabled us to grow, hire local talent, and contribute to the circular movement I deeply care about.

We didn’t stop there. I went back to school, taking on full-time studies while managing Urban Salvation, turning it into a private limited company and expanding into Indonesia. And now, looking back, we can proudly say: this is just the beginning.

This post is a testament that dreams do come true. 💫 With support from family, friends, and the community, anything is possible. This achievement is a reflection of the team that believed in Urban Salvation, the loved ones who supported me through thick and thin, and the customers who trusted us.

I am grateful beyond words and will continue to pour my heart into this journey. Urban Salvation is built on passion, trust, and craftsmanship, and we will keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

At the heart of this exhibition is our concept chair, which draws inspiration from the iconic ‘Cock’ brand Kopitiam Chair—a symbol of Singapore’s rich heritage. We’ve meticulously deconstructed each joinery of this beloved chair and reassembled it into a contemporary masterpiece, blending the old and new. This is not just about crafting furniture; it’s about reviving the essence of woodworking in a modern urban setting, a testament to the ongoing relevance of this traditional craft.

Had an amazing and insightful sharing session with the talented lecturers from Temasek Polytechnic, School of Design. 🎨 We exchanged ideas, talked about the beauty of design philosophies, and discussed how education can be a true source of inspiration.

It was such a privilege to share my journey—starting from the ground up to bringing Urban Salvation to the international stage. 🌍 I hope I managed to show them that with passion, creativity, and a little bit of grit, you can turn any vision into a reality! 💪🏼

One of the key topics we dived deep into was sustainability in design. 🌱 How do we create work that not only looks good but also does good for the planet? From sourcing eco-friendly materials to designing with longevity and reparability in mind, we explored how designers can play a huge role in shaping a more sustainable future. It was exciting to see how the next generation of designers are already thinking about using their craft to make the world a better place!

We choose reclaimed teak with natural osmo finishing for an ideal foundation for furniture that’s meant to last generations. The rattan french wicker are handwoven, paying homage to traditional craftsmanship that’s been practiced for centuries. This lightweight, breathable material not only adds a touch of vintage charm but also provides functional ventilation, perfect for storing electronics or items that need airflow.

We took an iconic Singer sewing machine leg from the 1970s and gave it new life by powder coating it in a sleek matte black. The result? A stunning console desk that marries vintage craftsmanship with contemporary style.

Our client completed the look with an original vintage Thonet chair, creating a workspace that’s not only functional but also filled with history and character.

Why restore? Restoration is more than just a design choice; it’s about preserving stories, memories, and the enduring quality of classic pieces. By blending the past with the present, we can create spaces that are uniquely personal and timeless.

Something that i hate to say but it needs to be addressed.

This particular project was incredibly meaningful to me. Suzy and her family didn’t buy a sofa or dining table. They have a unique approach to building their home. They wanted a piece from us first to build their entire spatial experience around it.

Recognizing the importance of this, we went the extra mile to ensure that our piece would be the foundation of their home. Suzy and her family look up to us, and it’s imperative that we reciprocate their trust and admiration with the highest standards of craftsmanship and dedication. Thank you for your understanding.

I love this kind of project. Naz and luthu have an idea that i not willing to do but willing to teach. As u all know i hate installation job. But they still come to me source for the table top and i teach them how to manage the project. They executes with flying colors! All singaporean should be hands on. Small fix or small project is easy to handle, also im here to teach.

Living in multi racial, multi religious nation. I have to be able to understand the needs of everyone. I have to have empathy in my design and building approach. At the end of the day we’re all human and we need humility and compassion to live day to day in life.

Even though the BTO custom furniture package was not a huge hit. It was a fruitful learning curve for me. For $5999 Dylon completed his basic needs for a nice living room. Im glad they benefited from it and his wife did a lovely job keeping the renovations low cost.

At least someone benefited from the BTO package.
