How to enjoy more whole grains in your diet? Here's how:
1. Enjoy breakfasts with whole-grain cereals, such as shredded wheat or oatmeal.
2. Substitute whole-wheat toast or whole-grain bagels for plain. Substitute low-fat bran muffins for pastries.
3. Make sandwiches using whole-grain breads or rolls.
4. Replace white rice with kasha, brown rice or wild rice.
5. Feature wild rice or barley in soups, stews, casseroles and salads.
6. Add whole grains, such as cooked brown rice, to ground meat or poultry for extra body.
7. Use rolled oats or crushed bran cereal in recipes instead of dry bread crumbs.
