Blessed Christmas!! 🎄 Wishing you peace, hope and joy this season!! Happy Howlidays!!
It’s beginning to look like Christmas 🎅🎄🐶 from
What does Christmas mean to you?
Our therapy dogs work hand in hand with our trained mental health professionals to help people who are depressed, anxious, stressed etc. The calming presence of our dogs help co-regulate our nervous system, reduce stress hormone- cortisol and increase happy hormones - dopamine, oxytocin. On the other end of the leash, our therapists help clients work through difficult emotions and challenging thought patterns with evidence based strategies.
While we have often showcased the wonderful work of our friendly therapy dogs in providing support and comfort, they are just 1 out of Pawsibility’s multi-pronged 4Ps methodology in enabling wellness.
Our team of mental health professionals, each of whom has more than a decade of experience in their respective areas of specialisation, focuses on:
- the use of evidence-based techniques in psychological interventions
- grounding and somatic techniques to alleviate physiological symptoms
- exploring practical solutions to real world problems
As 2022 draws to a close, let’s PAWS and reflect:
1. Who are some people that you are thankful for?
2. What were you proud of?
3. What were some moments that made your heart smile?
As we usher in the new year of 2023, what are some hopes and dreams that you have, what will you do to make the world a better place?
Wishing you a blessed New Year ahead!! We are grateful for your presence in our lives 😊🐶

Therapy dogs can help lower stress levels

Dogs can be healing for children: Study shows canine interaction leads to lower stress levels in kids Twice-weekly sessions with a dog and its handler significantly lowered children’s levels of cortisol – the body’s stress hormone – and appeared to be more effective than guided relaxation sessions, the study showed.
Who do you think is gonna win this game of soccer?? 🐶⚽️ 🦮
Sports and games are one of the best ways to learn life’s lessons!! 🏆🐶 That’s why our therapy sessions sometimes incorporate fun games (including soccer) 😉

Pivoting to find joy!!
Yesterday the dogs were disappointed that halfway on our drive to the beach, it started raining ☔️. We managed to turn the car around and find a spot of clear skies, caught the sunset🌅 and the moon 🌝 rise. It reminds me of life. When we face disappointments or things don’t go the way we expect, we could lament or we can make the choice to pivot and find joy!! I hope you choose to find joy 😃🐶

Sometimes what we expect our child to be on the outside can unexpectedly be causing our child to feel things on the inside that we do not hope for. It’s helpful to think of both the outside and inside when we say something to our kids.
This image struck a chord with me, not only because I was that typical tiger parent, but because I was also that child.
I displayed all the right behaviors on the outside but inside I was asking, “Am I enough? Am I loved? Am I safe? What will happen if I fail?”
Outward compliance ≠ Authenticity and security
Let’s learn to meet our child’s true needs rather than simply demanding good behavior.
•
Posted • I can say it because I am a recovering and unlearning tiger parent 🙈
The outer child and the inner child may not be the same.
We should never mistake compliance for security.
And do not mistake good behavior for an internally regulated and healthy child.
After all, all behaviour is an expression of need.
But sometimes we can be blinded by the "acceptable" expression (what is shown on the outside) because it often is the opposite of what we expect the need to be, or we actually have rejected those needs before.
(Or we're not comfortable with those needs because we have had those same needs rejected before)
A child who never throws a tantrum might not be because he is at peace or doesn't have any needs. It might be because he is too afraid to even have any needs.
I am not saying that all the outward behaviour stated in the picture is wrong, those are good..only if it is a true and exact expression of what's going on in the inside of a healthy child/person.
When a behaviour gets to you, dare to ask yourself WHY to overcome what you need to, to see beyond your little ones outward expression and reach to what's going on inside ❤️
(The iceberg analogy has stuck with me since I first understood it from Dr . You can google the original one from her!)

Research suggests that spending time in nature can help mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Time to step outside ☀️🐶😁🏕
“On this logic, we can’t punish, s***k, shame, or guilt kids into being kind, empathic people. For example, though s***king and physical discipline are common ways that parents enforce “good behavior,” decades of evidence across multiple contexts and cultures demonstrates that this typically backfires. Children who experience corporal punishment are at increased risk for anxiety and depression, behavior problems, and struggles with substance use as adults. If we want to raise kind, respectful kids, we have to show our kids kindness and respect—and to model these traits toward others.”
Why We Treat Others as We Have Been Treated Research reveals a twist on the Golden Rule.
It takes TWO!!!
