Getting over a slow morning, I decided to just do this as I'd been meaning to do since last week! It's nowhere near perfect reading, but this was done in one take with zero editing... Something to look at for fun with pronunciation with this amazing tongue twister book by Dr. Seuss! When you're ready, try to read it out loud too yourself ;) Access the narration here: https://youtu.be/eCrJ1-VkkgM

Are you sometimes unsure how to pronounce a word or want to be understood by others without repeating yourself? How do you pronounce words like 'colleague', 'liaise', and 'opportunity'?

Here's a list of 23 main words that I first thought of from all the years of teaching English. I highlight the pronunciation differences between Singaporean English and pronunciation from the Cambridge dictionary. Every accent in its entirety is beautiful, but in the case when a word is slightly mispronounced, misunderstandings or lost moments can be the result...

I hope this will help you in sounding clearer and more confident when speaking in the English language! Do comment in the video if you have a word or words which you have difficulty pronouncing, or if you just want to share any other mispronunciations or differences you've heard, and I may add it to Part 2 of this series!

Hello you, this weekend I've got a new video for your learning.

We focus on how pronunciation changes with word pairs with the same stressed syllable. I'm sure we all want to be fluent and sound good when speaking, and with these word pair examples, we don't say them the same way! It's a bit of a drilling practice involved here, so get ready and take your time to listen and repeat after me. Watch the new video here: https://youtu.be/2acZeSI_qoc

If you're wondering about what 'word stress' means, please refer to my previous video where I explain the details and how it all comes together: https://youtu.be/e4uIct1gA8U

I did this video on Sunday and it was actually a rather dull day with the start of our month-long lockdown here in Singapore, but I'm sure glad it turned out alright! This is supposed to be a bit of a fun topic when I had the idea of bringing you colourful idioms, but as you know all idioms have their own meaning, and some are not very fun! Native speakers use idioms and learners of English may not always understand, especially when in a spontaneous conversation when you may not be able to check the dictionary there and then. Let's start somewhere and have a look at these 15 which I hand-picked for your learning!

Let's begin by looking at the words that contain the spelling 'our'.
