The unassuming cable organiser was the inspiration behind a game-changing solution for patients with cardiopulmonary failure.
Designed by a group of NHCS nurses, the gadget works to secure the distal perfusion catheter, a tube that reroutes blood to the limb to allow for unobstructed blood flow through the body during treatment, greatly reducing the risk of leg amputation.
For their innovative efforts, the team clinched the Best Practice Medal (Care Redesign) at the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity Medals, organised by the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ng Teng Fong Healthcare Innovation Programme.
