Incisive, bold, and firmly Singaporean. HollowBody™
T.H.E Second Company
cont·act Festival
The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Company was founded in 2008 by Artistic Director Kuik Swee Boon. Rooted firmly in Singapore yet universal in its perspective, T.H.E's contemporary dance works reveal the body as a medium for exploring and celebrating the human condition. Dance artists at T.H.E are immersed in the Company's signature methodology, HollowBody, which guides them to access their deepe
In this micro interview, our rehearsal master and dance artist, Billy Keohavong, shares how the themes behind 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘴 have hit differently for him since the 2018 premiere and the five-city Europe tour in 2019. As the work makes its comeback in Singapore this November (before heading to Taiwan and Malaysia!), Billy reflects on how his own sense of identity and belonging has evolved through the years.
Take a moment to join us behind the scenes, as rehearsals intensify and our dance artists bring this work back to life, each with their own fresh perspectives.
And now's the time to gather your friends and family for a special 10% discount when you purchase 4 or more standard-priced tickets from the same category!

Join us behind the scenes in this retrospective look at 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦, a site-adaptive performance that took place last month at ArtScience Museum. Delving into the intricate relationships between the self, the other, and our surroundings, 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 draws from themes of oneness, connection, and fluidity, inviting audiences into an immersive experience that dissolves the boundaries between performer and observer.
Originally created in 2023 and premiering in Singapore, 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 has toured across Southeast Asia. Each iteration of the performance adapts to its unique environment, creating a fresh and dynamic experience with every show.
In this exclusive video, choreographer Kuik Swee Boon, sound artist Kent Lee 阿部健 and our dance artist Chang En share insights into the creative process of producing this excerpt version of 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦, from conceptual development to the challenges of adapting the work to the distinctive architecture of ArtScience Museum.
Filmed and produced by Weilee Yap for ArtScience Museum, this video provides an intimate look into how 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 was crafted.
It’s hard to believe how much has unfolded since we first brought 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘴 to life in 2018, followed by an incredible five-city tour across Europe in 2019. While the world has gone through rapid changes over the years, the work’s exploration of fluid identity and the search for a deep, inherent sense of belonging feels more timely than ever.
These photos take us back to some indelible moments from the premiere and tour. This November, we’re excited to return with a fresh infusion of energy from Chang En, Haruka, and Han-Wei—each performing this work for the first time.
Early bird tickets are available for just 9 more days, until 15 September, and with allocated seating, be sure to book yours soon! 🎟️

Thank you to all of you who joined us for this world premiere, and for letting these works come to life in these 3 evenings. A huge thank you to our production, artistic, and administrative teams too for the tireless work in making it all happen, and to our partners for the support. 💙💛
