To commemorate World Physical Therapy Day, we're celebrating our dedicated team of physiotherapists at St Luke’s ElderCare.
They work alongside elders on their road to recovery, tailoring treatments for each client, based on their needs. The customised plans can include physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and respiratory therapy sessions. The goal is to maintain, restore and maximise the functional ability of our clients.
All of our therapists play a crucial role in the health of our elders – as Zhi Yi said in the video, being part of the recovery process for her clients is a priceless experience!
Happy World Physical Therapy Day!

To engage our elders in meaningful conversation and infuse their lives with visual art, we partnered with National Gallery Singapore, Agency for Integrated Care, and RSVP Singapore, The Organisation of Senior Volunteers to launch givingBAC – Arts Reaching Communities, an 8-week project designed to foster discussion inspired by artworks found at the Gallery.
Guided by community artist Joanne Lio, our elders embraced the theme of “Telling My Life Story” and created deeply personal and enriching works of art. It was a day of celebration as our elders proudly witnessed the fruit of their labours!
The seniors explored with 2D drawing and painting with watercolors to create 3D clay artworks with their own hands. They were able to narrate their personal stories through their artworks, while learning painting and clay modeling techniques in an engaging and relaxing manner. Paintings were also inspired by artworks from the collection of National Gallery Singapore.
You can visit the elders’ travelling exhibition and learn about their life stories at the following locations:
2 Sep – 29 Sep | 10am–9pm: Toa Payoh Public Library
1 Oct – 31 Oct | 10am – 9pm: Jurong Regional Library
This project is presented by National Gallery Singapore in partnership with St Luke’s ElderCare and supported by Agency for Integrated Care - AIC Singapore and RSVP Singapore The Organisation of Senior Volunteers. The workshops were led and conducted by community artist Joanne Lio.
St Luke’s ElderCare is grateful for their support!
Celebrating milestone moments with our elders! 🎉
Our SLEC Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Changkat hosted a National Day Carnival earlier this month, and the turnout was amazing. Over 130 daycare elders and active agers joined in the fun, reminiscing and reliving their childhoods with games they used to play.

A big thank you to all our volunteers for making this event so special.

Here's to our amazing nurses – you are our sunshine!🌻
Today, we came together to honour our nurses at our St Luke’s ElderCare Nurses’ Day Celebration.
The event began with a warm welcome from our CEO Adj A/Prof (Dr) Kenny Tan and Director of Nursing Ms Susie Goh. We then played a touching appreciation video put together by our SLEC team. The video featured heartfelt messages from our elders and staff who expressed their gratitude for the compassionate care our nurses provide everyday.
Our staff also joined voices to sing "You Are My Sunshine", while presenting sunflowers to our nurses and care staff – a symbol of the light they bring to our community.
The celebration continued with a surprise performance of "Ain’t Got No Nurses Like in SLEC", an original song written and performed by our talented staff.
To commemorate this special day, Dr Tan wrote a beautiful poem:
Your gentle smiles and loving ways
Bring healing to my painful days
And every touch from nursing hand
A precious gift for me to mend
And so I pray this special day
That God will guide your every way
And grant that you will always be
The angel that He’s given me!

“At St Luke’s ElderCare, our desire is that no elder should age alone. We want to uplift our elders’ quality of life, and we will partner with all like-minded organisations to improve the well-being of our elders,” shared Prof Ho Yew Kee, Chairman at SLEC during the welcome address at the Official Opening of SLEC Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Anchorvale this morning.
As one of the newest additions to the SLEC family, this centre delivers a comprehensive range of services designed to offer holistic care for both the fit and the frail. Our active ageing programmes, along with day care and day rehabilitation services, are tailored to support our elders in maintaining their independence and dignity, helping them to age gracefully within the community.
This centre features a unique wall mural, which was co-created by our elders and Mohammed Salihan, a student artist from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) University of the Arts Singapore (UAS). Inspired by heartfelt conversations, the mural celebrates the collaborative efforts of residents and community partners.

Here’s a throwback to our visit to the Peranakan Museum! 💠
Our day care elders from St Luke’s ElderCare Senior Care Centre @ One Punggol were each paired with a preschooler from the Skool4Kidz Campus @ One Punggol during the visit, and given a task!
Each pair needed to complete their activity cards by taking pictures with specific exhibits in the museum. It was heartwarming to see the preschoolers building a close relationship with our elders!
Thank you Skool4Kidz Preschools for energising our elders with your youthful energy! Our elders loved this outing and we look forward to more of these collaborations. 💙

We recently hosted our inaugural St Luke’s ElderCare Inter-Centre 8-Ball Pool competition! 🎱 This event brought together 50 active agers from three of our Active Ageing Centres: Anchorvale, Northshore, and Bishan, to celebrate Father’s Day.
Held at SLEC Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Northshore, 18 enthusiastic players showcased the skills and teamwork they have built over the past few months of training, amidst cheers and excitement.
Adding to the buzz, four of our talented guest baristas from Bishan’s Love-A-Latte Workshop, our 4-week coffee-making training programme, were present to brew their specialty coffee, keeping spirits high throughout the event.
There were also fringe activities, with games like darts, carrom, and rummikub, as well as floor curling, which was introduced for the first time to our active agers. Guided by an instructor from the Singapore Floor Curling Federation, our elders learned the ropes and had a go at this unique sport.
It was a day overflowing with laughter, friendly competition, and genuine connections as our active agers relished activities specially tailored for them.
The event was a resounding success, and we look forward to bringing similar experiences to our other centres!
