Every couple faces moments of misunderstanding or hurt, but these moments can also be opportunities for growth.

Our therapy sessions create a compassionate space where both partners can express their feelings and concerns without judgment. We believe that understanding each other’s experiences and emotions is the key to rebuilding trust and intimacy.

Meet our pets! 🐾💛 Our furry companions bring us so much love, joy, and comfort—and remind us just how powerful the bond between humans and animals truly is.

Pets aren’t just great listeners; they also help us manage stress, boost our mood, and provide that unconditional love we all need. Just like the work we do with our clients, our pets teach us the importance of connection, trust, and compassion every day. 🐶🐱

Cherish the moments with your furry friends—they’re more than just pets; they’re our heart healers. 💖✨

This game is a favorite among kids during therapy, taking you on a roller coaster of emotions as you explore your feelings. 🌈 Ever feel like screaming ‘AAAARGH’? 😤

It’s okay to get mad! But how can we manage that anger? It’s a great way to learn social-emotional coping strategies learn to identify, understand, and manage anger triggers, develop effective communication, mindfulness and breathing exercises to help you stay grounded.

When children feel valued and loved, they thrive emotionally and socially. Your time and attention tell them they are important, and that foundation of trust creates a bond that will last a lifetime.

Let’s prioritise those precious moments and show our children the love they deserve. Together, we can foster an environment where every family member feels supported and cherished. By investing in your relationships, you’re not just shaping their lives— you’re creating a legacy of love that will carry on for generations.

At the beginning of Frozen, Elsa accidentally injures Anna with her magic so their parents decide to isolate Elsa until she can control her powers. This meant that Elsa grew up severely isolated and she was taught: “conceal, don’t feel”, and to avoid or suppress her emotions. People who experience trauma often become isolated and hyper vigilant, which can prevent them forming close and loving relationships.

Later, in a moment of anger, Elsa accidentally reveals her powers in front of everyone. This made her fear for her safety, and she felt powerless to resolve the situation. When people experience trauma, they can feel completely paralysed, as if their bodies have shut down or frozen. Trauma can also lead to dissociation, where you feel disconnected from your own thoughts, emotions, memories, and sense of self.

Recovering from trauma is not about holding back, but about letting go and embracing who you truly are. Through love and connection, Elsa healed from her trauma. With hope and support, healing is always possible.

Elsa’s journey encourages us to offer ourselves the same compassion and care we give to others. 💙

Reconnect and are collaborating to offer a unique and holistic approach to wellness. During our recent session with Yi TCM, we explored the synergy between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and psychotherapy. The integration of these two disciplines offers a comprehensive understanding of how the mind and body are interconnected. By combining the wisdom of TCM with the therapeutic practices of psychotherapy, we can address both physical and emotional imbalances, leading to a more balanced and healthier life 🤩

Our founder and family therapist Evonne Lek was quoted in the Straits Times on Sunday about Eldest Daughter Syndrome.

These are the signs that you may have Eldest Daughter Syndrome:

1.       Strong sense of responsibility
2.       Overachiever, Type A
3.       Worry a lot
4.       People pleasing tendencies
5.       Boundary struggles
6.       Resent siblings and family
7.       Guilt issues
8.       Difficult time with adult relationships

“If you are an eldest daughter, know that it is okay to ask for help and support, or to take a break. Nobody can be perfect! Asking for help does not mean that you are weak or incompetent. Acknowledge that you have achieved so much already, even if you do not get the external validation, you can feel empowered as you look at these characteristics as a strength.”

These egg figures are more than just playful tools; they are an essential bridge for young minds to connect with and understand their emotions during therapy.

By visually representing feelings such as happiness 😊, sadness 😢, anger 😡, surprise 😮, fear 😱, and calmness 😌, these figures provide a tangible way for children to identify and communicate their inner experiences.

Children not only learn to recognise and express their own emotions but also develop empathy by understanding the feelings of others.

🌟 Healing PTSD Through Somatic Experiencing 🌟

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can profoundly affect one’s life, but there is hope for healing. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-focused approach that helps individuals release trauma stored in the body. Our therapist Yvette Tan uses SE to support our clients on their journey to recovery.

🌿 What is Somatic Experiencing? 🌿

Somatic Experiencing is a technique we use to process this trauma. In practice, this means slowly tracking your bodily sensations as we gradually work through your trauma story step-by-step. This approach can then reawaken your natural physiological defence mechanisms and allow you to sense danger again.

When you suffer from PTSD, it can overwhelm your nervous system. It affects your sense of safety and can make you anxious and hypervigilant, or shut-down and numb. If you become shut down, you are vulnerable to further trauma, as you cannot sense danger or avoid threats.

Healing from PTSD is a journey, and Somatic Experiencing can be a powerful tool to guide you through. If you or someone you know is struggling with trauma, reach out for support. We’re here to help restore your protective stance and become a completely new person.

Happy Fathers’ Day to all the amazing dads out there! 🎉😊

Being a father means experiencing ups and downs, making mistakes, and learning from them, but above all, striving to give our best to our children.

Fatherhood is not easy, and there isn’t a simple trick that will help to solve its challenges. With honesty, dedication and effort, your child will appreciate all you do for them.
