✨Wishing all our Hindu friends a joyous Deepavali filled with light, love, and laughter! 🌸

“I learnt that during Deepavali the lighting of diyas symbolises the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. May the festival of lights bring renewed hope and fresh perspective, reminding us to care for ourselves and our loved ones. Wishing all Hindus a happy Deepavali filled with warmth and wellness!”

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often misunderstood as simply being overly neat or organised, but it’s a complex mental health condition that affects about 1 in 28 adults at some point in his or her lifetime, in Singapore (SMHS, 2016).

This OCD Awareness Week, we learn about OCD through the eyes of Jane, our client at SAMH Oasis Day Centre. Having been diagnosed in 2003, she bravely shares about how she journeyed with OCD and found support in recovery through practising patience and empathy for oneself.

Let’s come together to raise awareness, show compassion, and support those living with OCD. 💚

This Children’s Day, we celebrate not just the joy of childhood, but the importance of raising children who are self-aware, emotionally resilient, and understand the value of mental wellness. Together, we can ensure that our children grow into adults who are not only capable of achieving great things but also leading with kindness, balance, and mental strength.

Here’s to the bright future of our children—a future where mental wellness thrives. 🌟💛

In the second installation of our ‘Under the Radar series’ we shine the spotlight on Joey Tee, our cafe supervisor at SAMH Mindset Learning Hub (SAMH MLH) - our centre which provides training and employment placement for persons-in-recovery, in industries such as cleaning, food and beverage, and retail.

A Magical Night: Our Disney-Themed Dinner & Dance

We recently had our annual Dinner & Dance and it was a delightful, Disney-inspired evening filled with fun and laughter. The theme brought out the joy and wonder in all of us, with everyone enjoying the chance to unwind and connect in a playful, relaxed atmosphere.

More than just a night of entertainment, the event highlighted the importance of taking time to recharge and prioritise our well-being. In the same way Disney stories encourage optimism and resilience, we’re reminded that caring for our mental health is key to overcoming life’s challenges and together, we can continue building a supportive environment where everyone’s wellness matters.

Today, we commemorate World Su***de Prevention Day - a day globally dedicated to raising awareness that su***de can be prevented. This year’s theme “Changing the Narrative on Su***de” brings forth a call to action, to “Start the Conversation”.

And we did just that at the festival at Changi Jewel last Friday! We engaged with the community through ‘Mindful Steps’ our Snakes and Ladders-inspired game that encourages introspectiveness and conversations about our wellness. Through the game we shared about the benefits of pausing and reflecting on meaningful moments in one’s day and the power of striking a simple conversation with fellow players.

Indeed, sometimes a small break can lead to a big shift in mindset. Let’s continue promoting mental wellness and self-awareness together! One chat at a time!

P.S.: Shoutout to the BTL collective spearheaded by National Council of Social Service & TOUCH Community Services for the opportunity to continue contributing to this year’s event.

Thank you to all who joined us at our booth and shared your journey with us. 💙

This Grief Awareness Day, we’re sharing about the varied and unique experiences of loss - like death of a loved one, but also other significant life changes, such as the end of a relationship or friendship, loss of a job, or even the loss of health or independence - by every individual.

In acknowledging the personal nature of grief, we can offer more meaningful support to those who are mourning. Whether it’s through understanding the emotional, cultural, or spiritual dimensions of their journey, the key is to be present, compassionate, and nonjudgmental.

Remember, healing doesn’t follow a set timeline, and there’s no right or wrong way to grieve. Let’s strive to create a space where every individual’s grief is honored and supported. 🫶
