Guided by Dr Michael MacDonald, a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Paul made crucial lifestyle changes and learned the importance of early diagnosis.

"Sharing my story has led my friends and family and even strangers to pay closer attention to their heart health and undergo screenings, regardless of their age and overall health,” Paul says.

🚨 Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) was classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

This marks the second global mpox outbreak, driven by the Clade I variant, which spreads more easily through close physical contact and causes more severe illness than Clade II, the variant behind the 2022 – 2023 outbreak.

To date, over 17,000 cases have been reported across the African continent, with recent detections in countries like Sweden, Pakistan, and the Philippines. While the immediate risk to Singapore remains low, it's crucial to stay vigilant and take extra precautions, especially if you or your loved ones are travelling abroad.

Bubbly and chatty, Jordan Tan enjoys fun and games like any other 10-year-old.

But until recently, a cancerous tumour in his head threatened to derail his life. The tumour had to be removed, but his parents worried if cancer treatment would harm the healthy brain cells around the tumour.

Thankfully, Jordan had the option of proton beam therapy where an intense beam of proton particles irradiates the cancer tumour while minimising radiation to surrounding tissues.
