AIS Parents' Association - AISPA
The Australian International School Parents' Association, AISPA, is a community building organisation All parents at AIS are members of AISPA.
AISPA is the Parents' Association of the Australian International School. Our primary purpose is to foster community spirit within AIS. AISPA organises a number of family and other events throughout year. We are also a fundraising organisation, with the majority of our profits going back to AIS and its students. The AISPA Committee welcomes volunteer participation. The AISPA Office is located in the Main Campus.
AISPA and .singapore had the pleasure of hosting the outgoing year 12 prefects at a morning tea to thank them for their wonderful contribution to our community. Immediate Past AISPA President, Megan Williams, shared her gratitude and wished them well in their future endeavours, recognising the value of their leadership experience as they move forward, whilst incoming Head Prefects recognised they had big shoes to fill, and were appreciative of the legacy left for them. We hope the individualised water bottles gifted from AISPA remind each of these exemplar students of their time at AIS. Thankyou!

Thanks to those parents who came along this morning to AISPA’s volunteer information session. Lots of interest in getting involved in our events and activities. We advertise specific event volunteer opportunities on Classlist under each event. We are currently looking for some volunteers to help cook eggs and bacon rolls for the Dads Breakfast on the 5th and 6th September, so please head to Classlist and put your name down if you are able to assist.
Last night the Global Festival volunteers gathered at in Dempsey Hill, with AISPA thanking everyone for their amazing contribution to the day. Using the word of the waitstaff, there was a ‘cacophony’ of voices as we all enjoyed sharing stories, and partaking in good wine and yummy platters.

EOI for 2024 House Build - Habitat for Humanities
Always wanted to do a HOUSE BUILD for people in need, but never had the time or opportunity?
AISPA are seeking Expressions of Interest to be part of a team supporting Habitat for Humanity, Singapore to do a HOUSE BUILD in BATAM on 14-15 November 2024.
You will spend two meaningful days building alongside a homeowner in Batam to give them a home that is safe, secure and affordable.
Since 2014, Habitat’s building efforts in Batam have been focused on transforming Kabil Village, a sub-district of Nongsa, where 40% of its 20,000 residents live in shacks that are susceptible to water leaks, floods and collapse during monsoon season.
Habitat for Humanity believes that a decent home can help families break the cycle of poverty. With a roof over their heads, families are empowered to focus on employment and financial planning to build a better future for themselves. Come build with us and transform lives!

This morning, .singapore Athlete Development Program (ADP) students and their parents were invited to join a nutrition session co-hosted by AISPA and the PE/Sports departments. We are grateful to Sunaree .sunareechawla.sg , a Functional Nutritionist with a background in Food Science and Technology, to share her knowledge with us. Students and parents walked away with guidance and practical tips on how to incorporate a whole food approach to nutrition to enable students to improve energy levels, performance and overall health.

AISPA Committee member, Marina, was pleased to accept an invitation from to attend their showcase event. Our Pre-Loved Uniform Shop donates all funds raised to five charities, Children’s Wishing Well being one of them. Marina shared with us that she was blown away by the talent that the students displayed, especially given the many challenges they face during their day to day lives. This afternoon we were excited to welcome Australian International School alumni, Jessie, Charlotte, Daisy and Holly back to school. Their experience of moving to study in Australia after graduation, combined with practical tips from family and other parents who have recently gone through this process was shared with year 12 students and their parents. This included our Principal Mr Adam Patterson who put his Dad hat on! Thankyou all so much for sharing your collective wisdom. We are also grateful to the AIS Careers Office and Head of School Ms Karrie Dietz for joining us.

Thanks Stephen for an awesome morning at Tekka Market! Started with a delicious Indian breakfast, followed by a walk through the food market - fascinating! I have enough meat, vegetables and hand mixed spices now to have me cooking all weekend!
Finished with Stephen showing us some restaurants in the area worth visiting in future. Now I have the confidence to buy from wet markets and have some great tips on what to look out for.
We will organise another tour in the near future - but open it to everyone through our Adventurers Group! Stay tuned!…
AISPA was proud to sponsor an educational and empowering session for parents on cyber safety by Susan McLean - Cyber Safety Expert. Susan’s unparalleled knowledge left us shocked at the reality of the online world. It was a wake up call to even the most switched on parent and was delivered with in a ‘no nonsense’ approach. The session covered the positive benefits of technology as well as what parents need to be aware of in this modern world.
We are grateful to Australian International School for facilitating this insightful talk for our parents.

This afternoon AISPA’s China Country Group held their first local culture lecture for Chinese parents. They invited travel writer Mr Ye to introduce Singapore’s local culture. The lecture, provided in Mandarin, highlighted how Chinese culture continues to evolve and be passed down. Thankyou to Mr Ye for volunteering his time and sharing his knowledge with this group.
Did you know we have a Pre-Loved Uniform Shop? Open for an hour most Tuesday afternoons from 3.15pm and Thursday mornings from 8.15am and staffed by parent volunteers, all funds raised from sales goes to charity.
Do you have spare uniforms in good condition that your child(ren) can no longer fit into? Donate them to the AISPA Pre-Loved Uniform Shop by dropping them at the Collection Bins located: outside the AISPA office (Gate 3); and near the Reception (Gate 1). Please ensure that all items donated are freshly laundered and in good condition.
🌷2024 Breakfast with Mum🌷
Last week we had the pleasure of hosting our Breakfast with Mum in the Australian International School big gym. Mums and children enjoyed the high tea style breakfast, then challenged themselves to build the lego style flowers. Thanks to our wonderful hospitality staff and students for keeping the caffeine flowing with the early start, our AIS Parents' Association - AISPA parents and senior students for volunteering (including setup and tear down in super fast time) and our facilities staff and caterers. We couldn’t do it without you!

New friendships were initiated this morning at AISPA’s Term 2 Newcomers Morning Tea. We were pleased to welcome new parents and guardians across all age groups to the AIS family. Last month the AISPA Dads Group had a fun and enlightening morning at Mustafa’s Centre in Little India. A few of them stayed on for a delicious and well earnt Indian lunch afterwards.

The AISPA Australia and New Zealand country groups were pleased to host their inaugural ANZAC Day Tribute event. Held at the family friendly Hollandse Club, it was a wonderful occasion to come together as a community to pay our respects and celebrate the ANZAC spirit.
Our heartfelt thanks to Wing Commander Mick Rouhan, Assistant Defence Advisor to the Australian High Commission, for giving us a moving speech. Mick was joined by his wife Kym and colleague Warrant Officer Peter Brine. We also welcomed Group Captain Shauna Graham, Defence Advisor to the New Zealand High Commission and AIS Managing Director Operations Mr PJ Roberts and family.

ANZAC Day holds a special significance in commemorating the bravery and sacrifice of those Australian and New Zealander men and women who fought for our nations. It’s a time to honour their courage, resilience and selflessness in the face of adversity.
Today, it’s a celebration of reconciliation and friendship as former adversaries come together to build bonds of peace and understanding. Lest we forget.

Well done to our Bootcamp leader, Jody, and all the Parents of Bootcamp for participating in a team building event - Dragon 🐉 Boat Racing last week.
We heard it was a fun day on the water, with a little competition thrown in amongst it!
On Saturday we held our Fish n Chips Event with over 1500 parents and children sharing delicious fish and chips, enjoying the slip n slide, tug of war and bouncy castles, getting their face painted and dancing to the cool beats in the small gym. A huge thankyou to everyone who came along, the Australian International School for supporting the event, and the 60+ parents volunteers and 70+ student volunteers. It would not have been such a fabulous day without you!
