Staying active keeps us healthy but it can be a challenge for some of us, especially seniors or those with a busy schedule.

Fortunately, staying active doesn’t require us to have a gym membership or a rigorous workout regime. We can find ways to incorporate exercise seamlessly into our lives with just a few simple tweaks to our daily routines. For example, we can get off the bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way to clock in some steps.

Malam ini, kita menyambut tahun baru hijri dengan hati yang penuh kesyukuran. Awal Muharram memberi kita peluang bermuhasabah diri. Ia mengajak kita memperbaharui niat, menguatkan tekad serta mengukuhkan semula daya tahan kita untuk berusaha mencapai kecemerlangan dalam segala apa yang kita lakukan. Marilah kita sama-sama mengambil kesempatan ini untuk memupuk semangat perpaduan, keihsanan dan muhibbah antara satu sama lain.

Umat Islam seluruh dunia menyambut dan memperingati hari suci ini dengan bacaan doa akhir dan awal tahun, memohon petunjuk dan rahmat Allah dalam menyambut tahun baru dan mengucapkan selamat tinggal kepada tahun yang bakal berlalu.

Semoga tahun baru ini menjadi pemangkin perubahan positif dalam diri serta masyarakat kita. Salam Maal Hijrah semua!

Volunteering is powerful because it has a profound effect on our lives. When we volunteer, we meet people in circumstances different from our own. We develop greater empathy and learn what it means to walk in the shoes of others, and to be responsible for our fellow citizens. This binds us. This makes us a stronger and more united people.

MSF Singapore has just launched their roving Volunteer Festival to share more about volunteering and the many opportunities to do so. I hope this will encourage more of us to step forward.
