It is National Day season! 🇸🇬 Team POLITE came to GEHA in July for an early NDP celebrations! Our senior citizens were treated to an extravagant programme of national day songs and trivia of Singapore!
Stretch your legs cos it’s time for a walk down memory lane! This June, our volunteers from the University Team brought the elderly out for a walk to the National Museum of Singapore🚶🚶♀️
Following a guided tour, our volunteers and elderly learnt about the history of Singapore at the Singapore History Gallery. Not only did we hear stories from our guides, the elderly also shared their interesting stories with our volunteers! The artefacts we saw and stories we heard and read were all part of their youth. We heard it, they lived it🙌🏼
Next, we ventured through the Story of the Forest!🌳 Everyone was mesmerised by the engaging display and of course, we didn’t forget to take photos to capture this moment! 📸

During our latest volunteer service, Team Uni visited Hong San Home for a friendly yet competitive session where the elderly put the phrase “teamwork will make the dream work” to the test! 🌟💯
This time, we tested their coordination and interactive skills with group competitions such as towel passing and cup stacking, fostering strong bonds and teamwork in the process. 🧺🏆 To wrap it all up, we enjoyed a lively karaoke session that ended the day on a high note! 🎤💫 Can't wait for the next month where we will be bringing the elderly out for a walk! Dumpling Festival! This month, a joint effort byTeam POLITE and NTU’s to commemorate dumplings festival! Some simple quiz and artwork activities kept seniors from GEHA happy and engaged! Some of the volunteers also went for house visits as part of the social effort to ensure no one is left behind in the estate! We had a good time with everyone! Bring come join us in July! Guess what are we gonna do? Hint: It has gotta do with two colours we grew up with!
In April, Team Uni embarked on another volunteering session at Hong San!
We got creative with bear-brick painting, and all the volunteers were amazed by the elderly artistic flair! The elderly transformed those bears into masterpieces through splashing it with colours and their unique designs 🤩🤩
After that, we stretched it out with towel exercises before a fun game of passing the ball to the music 🎶 Everyone was so “on the ball”🫢

What a massive turnout! Team POLITE came to GEHA last weekend for our monthly service! The energy level was immediately raised with passing the ball as our ice breakers before heading to the main game of the”Monopoly”! The senior citizens were spontaneous in participating and boy, we were so happy to see so many smiling faces from them and our volunteers! During the month of love, we celebrated Valentine's Day with the elderly at Hong San Home 💌. We spent the day crafting beautiful cards, decorated with love-shaped stickers. We were truly amazed by the elderly creativity and talent 💖 Of course, we couldn't miss out on their favourite activity – Bingo! 🎲
To wrap up our volunteering session on a high note, we gathered for a dance workout and sing-along session, serenading each other with romantic tunes that truly captured the essence of love. 🎤💕 It was a day filled with laughter, joy, and we definitely look forward to the next volunteering session!
was back at GEHA last weekend, designing personalised tote bags with the senior citizens! These bags are not only drawn with love personally by the senior citizens and our volunteers, they will be able to use them for grocery shopping as well!! What’s better than shopping and thinking about CDYV!

Last month, our Chong De volunteers celebrated the upcoming Lunar New Year with a heartwarming session at the elderly from Hong San SAC. We grooved into the lunar spirit with a lively dance along to some New Year songs! ✨🎶 Then, we dipped our brushes to try some Chinese calligraphy, inscribing auspicious words to usher in good vibes. 🖌️ Ending off the session, who could forget the joy of receiving red packets from the God of Fortune himself!

Spreading the Christmas spirit with the elderly at Hong San SAC! 🎄✨
Our Christmas-themed party was filled with smiles and laughter as we unleash our creativity to decorate mini paper Christmas trees and made delicious chocolate cornflakes together. 🍫🌟 The session wrapped with a reveal of a huge Christmas tree, made up of the individual mini trees, each representing the bonds we made in the past year!
With hearts filled with gratitude, this heartwarming gathering marks our last volunteer service of 2023. Looking forward to 2024, where we will continue to spread the spirit of giving! ❤

With Deepavali around the corner, Team Uni celebrated the festival of lights with the uncles from Hong San through a series of activities! After making colourful Diya, it was time for their favourite game: Bingo! The festival-themed bingo left a big smile of their festival as we concluded the session🤩

Embracing the spirit of Deepavali with joy and enthusiasm! POLITE Youth Volunteers came together for a vibrant celebration filled with dance and Rangoli creations which brought many smiles from our senior citizens. May the light of this festival continue to illuminate our lives with love and happiness!
🎉 After a 3-year hiatus, Chong De Carnival is back and our senior citizens from Home Nursing Foundation (HNF), SASCO@Hong San, and Geylang East Home for the Aged (GEHA) gathered for a day of endless fun and laughter! They took on challenging station games, testing their minds and reflexes, and the excitement was contagious.
🧠💫 Our talented students showcased their skills with enchanting Guzheng melodies, while the little ones from the recital class added their sweet tunes. To add drama to the day, we even had a soap opera performance that left everyone in splits! 😄✨
But that's not all – the highlight of the day was our intense Bingo game, where our senior citizens got their game faces on, eyes glued to their cards, competing for fantastic prizes! 🎁
🔊 A massive shoutout to all our dedicated volunteers whose hard work and enthusiasm made this event an absolute success. Your support truly warmed our hearts! ❤️ Thank you for making this day unforgettable for our senior citizens, reminding us all that age is just a number when it comes to having a blast! 🌟

Our amazing volunteers from both NTU and NUSSAM had an energising day at Hong San SAC with our lovely aunties last Saturday! 🌟 This month, it was time to move! Through dribbling basketball and kicking up some football fun, our volunteers and elderly got their muscles and minds active. Their joy was contagious, with endless smiles all around! 😄❤
We're eagerly counting down to our much-awaited annual Chong De Carnival next month, where the spirit of togetherness and giving will shine brighter than ever before. See you next month! 🎉
Despite the gloomy weather, it did not dampen our seniors and students' spirit to skate and litter picking. Though we didn't quite managed to pick litter (many of us were physically drained😅), the attempt was commendable especially to the 1st timers 👍
Ganbatte!! It is the exam season for our POLITE youth volunteers. Yesterday, our senior volunteers went on an island-wide delivery of Pizza sandwiches+Ribena Fizz for our volunteers to cheer them on for their upcoming tests/projects! Many of them were in the midst of their preparations and this morale boosters were timely! Good luck for your exam! Just keep believing in yourself and you will surely achieve each of your goals. Fighting! 💪🏻

How well do you know Singapore?
The aunties at Hong San SAC surely do! From classic drinks like “Tak Kiu”, “Clementi” and “Kup Poh” to belting “One People, One Nation, One Singapore”🎶, they surely showed us their true brew Singaporean spirit this month!!🤩
We put their knowledge of Singapore to the test through a series of quizzes and sing-along session! Swaying to the beat of those familiar tunes, we ended the session with a final dance to the NDP song that has a special place in our hearts: Home♥️

Last Saturday, Team NUSSAM brought the seniors from the Home Nursing Foundation on an excursion to Jewel Changi Airport! All of them were so happy to be out and about, exploring the various attractions with big smiles on their faces. Our enthusiastic volunteers are like little boxes of sunshine, brightening up the elderly's day through the interactions we have had throughout the volunteer service.

Decked in a sea of red, our POLITE Team showed up in strength at GEHA for a simple National Day celebration with the seniors! With funfair-styled games, the games looked simple yet challenging! Our youth volunteers even teamed up with the seniors to complete some of the challenges! As with all NDP, no National Day celebration is complete without NDP songs! We sang a series of NDP songs, gave out goodie bags before rounding off with a group photo!

With the 16 elderly from SASCO @ Hong San, we took our monthly volunteer service to Marina Bay Sands!! Our volunteers and elderly had a tour around MBS hunting for locations, leaving behind unforgettable memories together🫧

What’s popping in Jalan Kukoh? Not the popping dance but our POLITE Team popped up in Jalan Kukoh to distribute essential supplies to the residents! Our youth volunteers also managed to engage them in chats and were blessed to receive encouragements from the seniors! Selamat Hari Raya! 🕌 while Hari Raya may be over, our POLITE Volunteers took the opportunity to celebrate with our elders and shared the significance of Hari Raya! We made paper Ketupats, sing along to some malay songs and even tasted delicious malay Kuehs! Awesome festivities in GEHA! 🥳

“Long time no see auntie uncle, Selamat Hari Raya!” The NTU team celebrated Hari Raya Puasa with the elderly from SASCO @ Hong San in April’s session! Volunteers and the elderly were engaged in an arts and crafts session to make the classic "dish": Ketupat! 🎉
Despite the challenges, they still pressed on and look at the final product🤩 The session ended on a high note with volunteers and elderly singing along to the familiar tunes of this festive season💛💚
