Repair Kopitiam
Repair Kopitiam is an initiative to bring the community together through repair so as to combat the throw away culture for a sustainable world.
Our movement coaches you to repair your items so as to spread the culture of repair first, recycle last. The Buy-and-Throw-Away culture is prevalent in our society. For a wobble of a chair, or a tear on our jeans, we tend to simply discard them away. While it is easy to discard or perhaps recycle, we can still salvage the product by repairing it. In engaging in repair, not only is one able to hone
30 June is the last day of the first half of the year and also the 6th Repair Kopitiam’s National Repair Day 2024! Today we had Go Green participants and URA folks join us at our event to experience what a visitor learning to fix his/her items will feel when they get them working again.
After a short walk around the mall to see sustainability activities of this wonderful “green” mall and its push for how good ideas can contribute to better sustainable practices. We have to thank Ed Ng from Our Tampines Hub for yet another fantastic tour.
Also in our spotlight this month is Pek Kio located at Dorset Road.
Thanks to the team at Coral Ris for hosting Veera and the interview team.
Cheers, Everyone

Recently I got wind of a comment that our FAQ does not cover our booking information. I will have to thank all (Ava P Burgh, Na Abs) who have tried to reply to Robin Rheaume with regard to how our process works. However, I checked our Facebook website to find that Robin was very right about her comments. There was really an issue.
Apparently, when you login as a member of our website, you will only see a small list of the FAQs even if you have selected any other FA questions. i.e. if you can even see the other FAQs. BUT! If you have tried to login as an unregistered public, then the FAQ works normally. LOL.
We have since fixed the FAQ issue. Now all members and the public can read all of our FAQs. Thanks everyone for pitching in and making us realise the issue. Cheers and have a great weekend.
Enjoy Reading Our FAQs

Additionally:
With regard to rejecting items, we do that when the following occurs:
1. Item is not what we will repair due to reasons that you can read in our FAQ
2. We do not have the expertise to coach you to fix that item. We are a DIY repair community so our equipment and volunteer capabilities determine what we are able to look at.
3. The item is by nature not possible to repair due to proprietary parts that we know via the description of the issue.
We do not reject any items that we can try to repair.
Thanks a lot to our volunteers who have helped us at Repair Kampung for the 1st and 2nd June! Because of their efforts we were able to identify RCCB failures at the Bishan senior flats. This was something significant because if RCCB is not working, it will put the seniors in serious danger.
Also special thanks to Peter who has helped us do the replacement of RCCB even during late hours. 🙏
Been hanging around the west side today and seeing our UWC students joining RKS@Jurong Lake Gardens and meeting up with RKS@CCKCC, seeing everyone so engrossed in repairs makes you feel that we have come a long way since 2014 when we were still figuring out what to share with the public.
Landing back to Our Tampines Hub, repairs were still ongoing. It makes me happy to say, we are proud of our plan to spread repairs. It doesn't matter if you are good at it or just learning, it truly starts when you brave that first step to dive into exploring this very useful skill.

Big thank you to our expert panel for their time and insights - Joanne Ng (Temesek Foundation), Michelle Huang (National Youth Council), Jing Ting (National Environment Agency) and Ivy Lim (Standard Chartered Bank) 🌟

When attending Repair Kopitiam Events, coaches will try their best to guide you. If you’re angry when things don’t get fixed,
you should remind yourself that you are the one who is supposed to be fixing your own barang.
For those who have been with Repair Kopitiam, you may have from time to time have met with Veera. He will drop by and be one of the coaches guiding the public in repair.
Veera's passion and commitment to making things right for sustainability and starting Repair Kopitiam was one of his favourite achievements since embarking on his career in sustainability.
Congratulations to Veera on being selected as one of the UN Global Connect SDG pioneers 2023. In celebrating this recognition of his years of hard work and dedication, let's help to spread this good news by reposting to shout out to everyone.

1. What do you think about your journey with RK?
Without going through formal learning in school, Repair Kopitiam has been a good informal way for me to learn technical skills to fix broken appliances. It's always better to understand the workings of the mechanisms behind things even when engaging professionals, so you are always in the know.
2. What is your vision for the future of RK?
I hope that Repair Kopitiam will remain accessible to the masses who are starting out their DIY repair journeys.
