"We’re diving deep into railway engineering, and it’s more than just a typical 16-week stint — it’s a full-on 2-semester grind! 💯.

Offered to selected students, ENG School's year-long internship (instead of the usual 16 weeks), gives them more industry exposure, more time to learn, more hands-on opportunities!

𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔' 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅
A rehab project to help the elderly with knee problems, invented by Computer Engineering students, earned the Lee Hsien Loong (LHL) Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Smart Nation award on 27 Aug 2024.

Called the “𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿”, it comprises a 3D-printed knee brace equipped with sensors and AI, paired with a mobile app game that is controlled by the user’s leg movements.

The LHL IDM Smart Nation award recognises the work of full-time polytechnic students in the areas of IDM. Established in 2017, the award is given to students whose projects fulfil the Smart Nation vision of harnessing technology to improve the lives of citizens.

International Day @ KMITL

🎉 Our students had an incredible experience at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand, during their Overseas Student Internship Programme (OSIP), participating in the International Day 2024 on 26 July 2024.🌍



✨They joined a global celebration where students from countries such as Ghana, Myanmar and Taiwan came together to showcase their cultures through their traditional attire and activities.👗



Representing Singapore, our students brought a taste of home with a fun quiz on famous facts about our little red dot 🇸🇬 and set up a stress relief board where students could share their worries and wishes. As mental health advocacy is of increasing importance in Singapore, they wanted to spread this awareness in Thailand as well.



It was heartwarming to see so many students open up about their academic and family stresses, and send well-wishes to others. This experience truly highlighted the inclusivity and diversity of the KMITL community. 🌟

𝗧𝗣 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗚 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗖 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀
A team of Engineering students from Temasek Polytechnic (TP) grabbed Gold in the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP), held on 4 Aug 2024 – topping the Endurance, Energy Efficiency and Innovation categories.

In this annual competition, organised by Horizon Education Pte Ltd, contestants from sec schools, JCs and Polys construct, design and race their fuel cell powered (remote controlled) RC cars, gaining vital skills in renewable energy.

The TP Team will now go on to represent Singapore in the H2GP World Finals to be held in Anaheim, California, USA, (9 – 12 Sep 2024) – competing with the best from around the globe with the chance to be crowed World Champion. 🏆

𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆!
Our Engineering students showcased their hydrogen-powered remote controlled (RC) racing cars at the Green Wave Sustainability Day event organised by Pasir-Ris-Punggol constituency. Designed and fabricated by the students themselves, there original RC cars were shown to the Guest-of-Honour, SM Teo Chee Hean.

𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
Final year Mechatronics students, Lee Yu Huan, Niya Sheeno Thekkath, and Lau Zong Lin are currently attached to Excel Marco Industrial Systems for a one-year internship (Apr 2024 – Feb 2025).

Yes, ONE YEAR ... instead of the usual 16 weeks.

It's part of our School's aim to give students more industry exposure, better preparing them for the industry upon graduation!
A longer internship 🡪 students can take on bigger projects of longer duration, see them to completion for the benefit of the company, gain deeper insights into the development process, and acquire more technical know-how.💻🔧

Hundreds of Engineering staff and students congregated at the TP Waterfront and Bedok Reservoir for the inaugural TP Waterfront X-Challenge Run 2024 held on 26 Jul 2024.

Here’s a toast to good health, fun, and camaraderie! 🎉

Incidentally, Engineering staff emerged Champion (Team category) while 3 Engineering students also finished among the Top 10 runners (boys), helping ENG School to clinch the overall Championship Shield Award too! 🏆

𝑨𝒊𝒓 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒓, 𝑨𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆?
You would assume that soccer must be played on a pitch on the ground, right? Well, think again.

A team of 5 Aerospace Electronics students slugged it out playing soccer -- in the air. Using drones instead of their feet, the students manoeuvred their aerial vehicles to chase a "drone ball" and attempt to score a goal by guiding it thru a loop.

Wait.. there's VAR and goal-line technology too! When the drone ball passes thru the loop, sensors activate and the loop flashes a red light. GOOOOALLLL... !!

𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲

An exclusive manufacturing process developed by Temasek Polytechnic (TP) for catalyst-coated membranes used in fuel cells has been licensed to Powerzone H2 Technologies Pte Ltd which will leverage on the unique technology to develop innovative fuel cell applications. The two parties will also collaborate in integrating fuel cell and battery technologies for portable power.

These were made possible with an agreement signed between TP and Powerzone H2 at the Hydrogen.Connect event held at Raffles City Convention Centre on 17 July 2024.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬
Applause 🎉to our who students won 1 Gold, 1 Silver & 2 Merit awards in the annual Engineering Innovation Challenge 2024! 🏆 🏅 🎖️

The “Healthy Knee Companion” 🚶‍♀️which won Gold, is a knee rehabilitation system comprising a 3D-printed knee brace equipped with sensors and AI, paired with a mobile app game that is controlled by the user’s leg movements.

The “Natural Anti-Microbial Food Packaging”, 🥫 which won a Silver, uses an FDA-approved natural peptide to coat the packaging of food items, via a process known as Reactive Ion-Etching (RIE). This dispenses with the need for harmful chemical preservatives.

Two other projects, the “Interactive Dexterity Therapy Device” 🧤 which helps those with Traumatic Brain Injuries to regain control of their fingers, and “Step Forward” which rehabilitates the elderly with gait problems, won Merit awards.
