What a great adventure today in Aberdeen, Scotland. It’s a beautiful marble city and we toured His Majesty’s Theatre and then explored the area in the amazingly sunny weather.

We’re off to Aberdeen, Scotland today! Woo hoo!

Our delightful trip to the Scottish Highlands has taken us to a lovely castle. There were also sheep.

Introducing our cast for "The Canonized Club:
The Curious Lives & Deaths of the Saints"!
EVELYNN is a Criminal Justice major at Northern.

“I am playing the Holy Spirit. I really love that while we never explicitly portray God, Jesus, or Mary, the Holy Spirit is a featured character who helps to move the story along. It really gives us a chance to look at the forgotten part of the Trinity and have a bit of cheeky fun exploring it. I particularly enjoy this role because They have quite a lot of ‘hurry up and get things done’ energy which is quite fun when the majority of the other characters are very much so wreaking havoc

“I am incredibly excited to generally getting to experience Edinburgh. It is an absolutely stunning city and a place I've always wanted to go, so to be able to bring a show to the Fringe is just great.

“I actually grew up in the military so I have been very fortunate to have a lot of travel experience, even spending upwards of five years overseas. I cannot put into words how absolutely thrilled I am to be overseas again and exploring a country I've always dreamed of. More than that, I'm travelling with a wonderful group, and I'm so very glad I get to share this experience with the cast and crew from Northern State University.”

BECA is a Theatre major at Northern.

“In the show, I play the role of Kisa Gotami, a Buddhist saint. I think this role is very interesting since I’m the only non-Catholic character on stage, so I get to provide a unique point of view to the events taking place in the show.

“I’m very excited to see the ghost tour and the Edinburgh Castle. Those are a few experiences that we have nothing really similar in the States, so it’s really a pleasure to be able to have this chance to see something new!

“I’ve been traveling pretty regularly since I was young, but I’ve never been abroad before. I’m very excited to have this opportunity to tour a show, as well as see all the sights and experiences of a new culture.”

DERYN is our powerhouse stage manager. She is joining Northern’s summer trip and will soon graduate from Creighton University.

“For this show, I am serving as stage manager. I’ve never stage managed, so it’s been very exciting to learn about the role and help manage the show.

“In Edinburgh, I’m very excited to visit the festival and view other worldwide performers in their niche. I’m also looking forward to visiting the Edinburgh castle and other historical experiences!

“I’ve traveled abroad two times prior to this, but I’ve never been a part of a traveling troupe! It’s exciting to go on tour with a band of colorful theater enthusiast like myself, and I’ve so enjoyed getting to know and become friends with everyone involved.”

Tonight the study abroad group is dining at The Doric Tavern, Edinburgh’s oldest gastro-pub, built in the 17th century. We’re celebrating the second night of the show doing well!

GARYTT is a Biology major and Theatre minor at Northern.

“I play the role of Pope Paul VI, as well as a few saints, and a few other minor characters. I enjoy getting to play multiple characters in comedic plays like this, because playing multiple characters allows me employ a larger part of my range than one character allows.

“I am very excited to eat and drink all kinds of foods and beverages that I don't normally have access to at home. I'm also looking forward to visiting all of the different museums and historical cites. Performing in the world's largest performance arts festival will be pretty awesome too.

“I have never traveled outside of the U.S. before, so this trip is very exciting. I actually won a competitive research grant to help make this study abroad trip happen for me. I've always wanted to travel to Scotland, and this is an amazing excuse to do so.”
