O.C. Fisher reservoir inside San Angelo State Park is currently at 1.2% capacity or in other words 98.8% empty. Hand launching of kayaks, canoes and other small boats, although allowed, is discouraged because of the lengthy, muddy, walk from the bottom of the boat ramp to the water's edge. For the same reason recreational swimming, wading or floating is also discouraged. Vehicles are not permitted off of the cement portion of the boat ramps.
Use live bait where you catch it—invasive silver and bighead carp look like shad when small and can be transferred to new water bodies as live bait.
If you catch one, don’t release it. Invasive carp also compete with native fish for food.
Protect our lakes and report invasive carp sightings to [email protected]
**PLEASE NOTE EVENT CHANGES**
Due to the rain we received during the night and with more forecasted today, we are moving the Kid Fishing Event to next Saturday, June 8.
It's crucial to understand that a fishing license will be necessary for anyone over 17 who intends to fish. The event no longer falls on Free Fishing Day in Texas. This requirement is not just a formality but a legal obligation that safeguards the safety and sustainability of our fishing activities. If you're assisting your child, no fishing license will be needed.
We look forward to seeing you guys next week!
