The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA) primarily supports the neurosurgery inpatient services for brain tumor, spine, interventional radiology and cerebral vascular by performing patient- oriented tasks such as taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering laboratory tests, making tentative diagnoses and prescribing appropriate treatments. The PA will manage ICP, suture/staple removal, wound care, removing drains, and assisting attending surgeons with inpatient procedures such as EVD placement and shunt taps. The PA will work closely with the multidisciplinary team arranging for patient discharges. The PA position is also responsible for covering the outpatient clinic (1 day per week), as well as ED/Rehab consults for tumors and traumatic injuries.

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) is an academic hospital, level 2 trauma center, and JCAHO certified stroke and spine center.

Shifts: 8-hour days rotating start times 6 am-2 pm, 8 am-4:30 pm, and 10 am - 6:30 pm (after completion of orientation will switch to 10-hour rotating day shifts)

Qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program; Master’s preferred
Current Maryland Physician Assistant license; Board certified PA
Maryland CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
Current BLS Healthcare provider
New Grad PA will be considered; Prefer Neuro or surgical inpatient experience
Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required

You must be fully credentialled by the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Board to start working as an PA.

Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg is a community teaching hospital with a level II trauma center. Our practice currently includes over 20 Advanced Practice Clinicians and 25 Physicians. The responsibilities of the position include daily rounding on hospitalized patients admitted to the hospital medicine service and performing H&P’s and consults. The schedule will be 7 on/7 off with weekend requirements every other weekend. A holiday rotation is included. This position is primarily dayshift with an occasional middle shift rotation (12p-9p & 3p-11p). We provide a comprehensive training and orientation program for new graduates.
