Our new come from all corners of the country, including New Hampshire -- a state that Ella Walsh calls home. Ella is a Chemistry major and plays on the women's soccer team. As a Knight, she says she's looking forward to "learning more about chemistry and science as a whole. I’m also looking forward to the change of college. I’m excited to meet new people and make more memories."

Introducing Ian Catalino-Vasquez, a first-year Law and Public Policy major who was born and raised in the Dominican Republic before moving to Philadelphia at age 10! Ian takes pride in the hard work it took to learn English and eventually graduate high school.

At Arcadia, he says, “I hope to surround myself with people who will not only make me better and lift me up but will make this new chapter of my life one I will never forget.”

Next Thursday, Sept. 5 is the annual Rock The Knight food truck festival! Our students, led by Archie, our Knight mascot, and Ajay Nair, President of Arcadia University, will process from campus down Easton Avenue to join the rest of the Glenside community for delicious eats from 40 food trucks and a line-up of live music. We welcomed our new and transfer residential students and their families to campus this morning. Student-athletes, faculty, staff, and even Prez Nair helped them unload their vehicles and carry their belongings into their residence halls on a picture perfect day! It was so "Knights" to meet you all!

Our storied Knights will have stories to tell when they arrive on campus this week! Check out what these students did on their summer breaks:

Väri Hodne '28 took a family trip to Tennessee that included a waterpark, an aquarium, and a stay in the Smoky Mountains that required a “frankly terrifying drive up.”

Mackenzie Benson '26 worked at Doylestown Hospital as an EKG technician. “I work alongside physicians and other providers to provide medical care and services to all different types of patients. I have been able to learn all different medical techniques and procedures while gaining clinical experience.”

And Kaylee Kramer '28 traveled to Cornwall, Bath, and Stonehenge!

Today’s new student spotlight comes to us from New Cumberland, Pa. Kaylee Kramer is an incoming Creative Writing major whose hobbies include reading, binge-watching movies and TV shows, hanging out with friends, and theatre. From her first steps on campus, Kaylee knew she belonged at Arcadia. “That feeling I had on my first tour wasn’t some trick my mind was playing on me, it wasn’t some myth of love at first tour, it was a genuine feeling of desire and understanding that Arcadia was where I was meant to be.”

Destiny Barnett ‘28 has been making the most of the final summer before college.

“I have been immersing myself in MANY social events from festivals to concerts and youth groups in Philadelphia! My summer has been filled with learning about new perspectives, exploring the unexpected, and building skills that I wished to do since my freshman year of high school! In less than a month, a new chapter will open for me, as well as a greater sense of self, and I cannot wait to experience it all!”

We can’t wait for you to get the full Knight experience, Destiny! 🏰 ✨

It’s that time again, time to meet some of our new ! First up is Mohamed Elbahwati, an incoming Computer Science major who recently completed his GED. While mental health struggles delayed his pursuit of higher education, Mohamed is now back on track thanks to his future as a Knight. “I am proud to say that a scholarship for Arcadia’s esports program helped motivate me to get it done.”

🤝 Ryan Tucci ‘26 met Gov. Josh Shapiro while interning for State Senator Maria Collett.

🎵 Zoé McNair ‘28 saw AJR perform at Wells Fargo Center, calling it a highlight of the summer and saying, “That was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, and The Maybe Man is one of the best albums I’ve listened to.”

🎡 Roseanna Cross ‘27 interned at Sesame Place! “I was able to learn the different aspects it takes to run an amusement park and how to be a leader. I was also given the opportunity to see how different amusement parks run behind the scenes.”

Criminology and Criminal Justice majors Serena Goodridge ’25, Jocelyn Horan ’25, Robert Ahern ’25, and Kyle Stump ’25 presented research at the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences annual conference alongside Associate Professor Dr. Favian Martín and Assistant Professor Dr. Kevin Revier, who both presented at the conference. Please join us in congratulating our VP of Enrollment Management, Technology and Innovation, Rashmi Radhakrishnan, on being named a finalist for the 2024 Philadelphia ORBIE Awards! The ORBIE Awards honor chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership. 👏

Arcadia University has been selected to receive a grant of $50,000 from the Center for Black Educator Development (CBED) to help rebuild the Black teacher pipeline. Marc Brasof, EdD, and Priscilla Jeter-Iles '09EdD secured this grant to further develop the efforts of the Social Action and Justice Education (SAJE) Fellowship! 🙌
