Today is Postpartum Psychosis(PPP) awareness day. Sadly, this can happen to anyone who becomes pregnant or gives birth. It can help more about it so you can notice the signs early to get help right away. Although PPP is a medical emergency, it is very treatable and with support, most families go on to live normal lives. Because of the nature of PPP, it is important that support people know the signs and when to get help.

So many people think that postpartum depression is just lots of crying and wanting to harm yourself or your baby. But it's so much more than that, and we do parents a disservice when all the symptoms aren't disclosed. Postpartum Depression can also look like:
🔷 Feelings of anger or irritability
🔷 Lack of interest in the baby
🔷 Appetite and sleep disturbances
🔷 Crying and sadness
🔷 Feelings of guilt, shame, or hopelessness
🔷 Loss of interest, joy, or pleasure in things you used to enjoy
🔷 Possible thoughts of harming yourself or your baby

You are not alone. You are not to blame. You can get better. If you need help, call or text HELP to 800-944-4773. You do not need a diagnosis to reach out to our HelpLine. We're here for you 💙

The hidden load: How 'thinking of everything' holds mums back 05/22/2021

Such and important concept to be aware of.
Invisible, unlimited work

Experts say that this hidden work comes in three overlapping categories. There’s cognitive labour – which is thinking about all the practical elements of household responsibilities, including organising playdates, shopping and planning activities. Then there’s emotional labour, which is maintaining the family’s emotions; calming things down if the kids are acting up or worrying about how they are managing at school. Third, the mental load is the intersection of the two: preparing, organising and anticipating everything, emotional and practical, that needs to get done to make life flow.

The hidden load: How 'thinking of everything' holds mums back When it comes to household responsibilities, women perform far more cognitive and emotional labour than men. Why is this, and is there anything we can do about it?
