Today is International Youth Day! Young people are the future and deserve to be celebrated, recognized, and empowered. Below are some ideas for celebrating young people:
• Write an individualized note of encouragement.
• Hold an open discussion with young people about issues facing themselves and their peers and work through potential solutions with them.
• Lead an art session, or invite a partner to, where young people can create and express themselves. Mind drawing (https://bit.ly/4dwtLlq) is a guided meditation that helps youth focus their attention.
• Make goodie bags to give to youth with positive notes of encouragement or affirmation. Goody bags can contain things like small candies, pencils and pens, earbuds, a fidget toy, and more.

Family Connection has been selected as the official local non-profit recipient for ShowOps Presents's Community Worship Night in Calera, at Christian Life Fellowship on August 10th.

As the recipient, Family Connection will receive the proceeds from the event's ticket sales.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Shelby Baptist Association for their generosity today. A group of awesome kids and volunteers built our agency a few planter boxes today as part of their annual UNITE Missions Camp, and we can't wait to fill them up with fruits, veggies, and flowers! National Safe Place Network recognizes the top five agencies, based on documentation in the Safe Place database, in each month's edition of Safe Place eNews.

For July, NSPN recognizes the top five agencies for youth helped in the 2nd quarter of 2024. These agencies are:

• Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc
• Youth In Need
• Family Connection Inc.

If you're a licensed Safe Place entity, please document your efforts in the Safe Place database. We thank all of our licensed agencies and sites for the work they do for young people daily.

As previously mentioned, we will be kicking off our online auction on July 24th! One of the items that will be up for auction will be a "One Night Stay & Breakfast for Two" at the wonderful Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa!

Our Administrative Office and Project Hope location will be closed on July 4th and 5th in observation of the Independence Day holiday! Our offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, July 8th. We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!
