🚨 Breaking news! 📰 Just in: the Fed meeting results and fresh guidance from Jerome Powell on future interest rates. Cutting to the chase, no interest rate cuts announced in this FOMC meeting; they'll hold steady between 5 to 5.5%. Powell's comments were quite intriguing. He hinted that a March rate cut, anticipated by many investors, isn't guaranteed. Decisions will be made meeting by meeting, keeping uncertainty in the air. ⚖️ Powell also cautioned against swift rate reductions, warning it could backtrack inflation progress, necessitating tighter policies to reach the 2% target. Yet, he emphasized the positive impact of a robust economy and a thriving labor market. The Fed is no longer concerned about these factors causing excessive demand and, consequently, more inflation. 🚨 Alert, Mortgage Newbies! 🚨 A wild rollercoaster in the finance world is upon us! 🎢

Today, our dear rate sheets might get a 💥CRUSH💥! Why? The jobs report just came in with a whopping 336,000 new jobs in September, making our expected 170,000 look like peanuts! 🥳🥜 But, wait! There's more... This unexpected boom has our mortgage bonds doing a not-so-graceful belly flop. 📉💦

🕵️‍♂️ A quick nosy into the jobs data: with jobs pouring in (👷‍♂️336k!👷‍♀️) and last month’s numbers also getting a nice boost upwards, unemployment is steady at 3.8% and those wallets might get slightly heavier with a moderate wage rise! 📈💼 This isn't just good news for job seekers, it’s showing that the labor market isn’t loosening its grip anytime soon, and inflation might just keep its feet on the ground.

🔮 Prediction Time: Markets reckon there’s NO WAY the Fed's cutting rates while the job market and economy are sizzling like summer BBQs 🥩🔥, and that’s a bit of a party pooper for our rates.

We’ve seen bond yields soar 🚀 and the chit-chat is all about how a gentle economic landing seems more fantasy than reality, nudging us toward recession talks. 📉😬 Yields might keep puffing their chests out a tad longer, but fingers crossed 🤞, they (and mortgage rates) might simmer down back to what we saw last week...AFTER a wee bit more of a climb.

Sometimes it's more than just mortgages! Got this email the other morning from a colleague ... couldn't of asked for a better way to start my day:

Good morning Brian,

Last night, I finally made it to S**C to see Matchbox 20. It was a 3 year wait, with the original date of the concert being in 2020, but due to COVID and scheduling, it finally happened here in 2023.

It was a great concert, lots of energy, and a fantastic time! But, the real highlight of the night, was when a random stranger found out I worked at Broadview / CAP COM. She came up to me, pulled me aside and wanted to tell me something. Her name is # # # # # from # # # # # . In 2020, she was going thru a difficult divorce, and needed a mortgage to keep her home. She applied EVERYWHERE, but only one place and one person gave her the loan. On 3 separate occasions she said “Brian gave me hope.” You were the only one that “saved her life.” She is forever and eternally grateful for how you came thru, and CAP COM / Broadview was the only place that believed in her. She still teaches in the # # # # # school district.
