Cornerstone Family dinner at Romo -

Special day of Community leadership training for leadership team. A huge shout out to Melissa Derenches and Annie Ryan for the Outreach class and to Albany Mayoral candidate Dan Cerutti who shared his expertise on Leadership. Some rest then on to dinner

Things we’ve learned at training so far:

1. How to work collaboratively as a team so we can be God’s hands and feet on campus
2. More about Pastor Jeff and all the energy he brings
3. Marketing ministry to the campus community
4. How to budget efficiently (thanks the Rev. John Knarvick!)
5. Millennial pop culture (brought to by our music director Dan and board member Sarah)
6. Cardboard cutout Jesus is roughly 5’8

The Cornerstone Campus Ministry Board is overjoyed to share some exciting updates. Pastor Laurie DeJong Zuverink, who was our designated Interim Pastor, has committed to finalizing her PhD in Social Welfare. While we knew her role with us would be temporary, we are sad to see her go and wish her well in her future endeavors. We are thankful for her year of service, and for being instrumental in sustaining the ministry.
With much anticipation, we announce that Rev. Jeff Kroondyk will be the new Campus Pastor beginning on 8/26. Pastor Jeff joins us from Michigan, where he recently served as the Director of Worship at the First Reformed Church of Zeeland. Notably, Pastor Jeff has an array of experience leading worship and worship leaders in youth programming. As part of the application process, Pastor Jeff provided a sample sermon, which included the following feedback: "He did an EXCELLENT job relating a personal experience to the lessons taught in the Bible and making them applicable to the intended audience (college students)" and "Loved the church background! I think he is 100% in his element when he is speaking to people and he gives out someone who cares and wants to invest in people's lives."

The Commencing has commenced! Day 1 of graduates to celebrate! Congratulations to this fine group of amazing young people!

Study breaks with friends on a perfect day to be outside are necessary and good!

For all the churches and supporters who brought dinners in for Tuesday night food and faith, thank you for blessing us!!! Whenever we had extras we brought them down to the Photgraphy Club a couple rooms over and tonight they gave us one of their “Paper Plate Awards” for blessing them!

Lots of heavy lifting and learning the chop saw for some flower bed posts. Thanks Steve B, Steve , Harv, Jim and the The Fuller Center for Housing of Greater New York City for teaching us and allowing us to serve with you! N.M.U.!
