NEUTRAL SPINE: Neutral spine refers to the natural position of the spine when all three curves of the backbone – cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), and lumbar (lower back) – are aligned and in their natural position. Maintaining a neutral spine is a fundamental principle in Pilates. This ensures that exercises are done in a safe and effective manner without undue stress on the spine. A neutral spine position supports proper posture, reduces the risk of injury, and allows for optimal force transmission during movements.
