Happy Juneteenth, APSTA!
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a significant holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Juneteenth is a time for reflection, celebration, and honoring the struggles and achievements of Black Americans throughout history. Today serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight for equality and justice for all. ♥️🖤💚💛
Happy Father’s Day, APSTA!!!!! We are all fortunate to have wonderful role models, like you, in our lives!

Last week, members of APSTA facilitated and participated in an LGBTQ+ Book Tasting at Albany High School.
Attendees were guided through 20 current book titles, ranging from PreK-12, which featured LGBTQ+ characters, themes, and topics.

Special thank you to our APSTA members who facilitated this book tasting!

The state budget passed last weekend and had a MAJOR WIN!
🔹Proposed cuts to Foundation Aid were rejected AND Foundation Aid actually increased $430 million more than Governor Hochul proposed!
🔹Tier 6 pension INCREASED! The Final Average Salary calculation dropped from 5 to 3 years, which means around an ADDITIONAL $100,000 in lifetime retirement earnings.
🔹We are a union state. Our union is strong and our advocacy works. Thank you to everyone who called, wrote, or sent emails to our legislators. Your voices were heard!
We wish a Happy Passover to all of our Brothers and Sisters beginning this holiday tonight!

is so close to Fixing APPR! A new bill has been proposed to the Legislature and we need YOUR help to get as many signatures on it as we can.
This new bill would return teacher evaluations to the local level, which means APSTA and the district would work TOGETHER to create an evaluation plan tailored to our school district, our students, and US.

A teacher promised his 1978 class an eclipse party. He just hosted it. Decades ago, Patrick Moriarty told his New York science classes that they would watch the 2024 solar eclipse together. He fulfilled that promise on Monday.
