Most of us hear:
“Don’t be dramatic”
“Stop crying”
“Man up”
“Toughen up”
“Stop being so sensitive”

…at a young age.

Heard over and over again during our developmental years we begin to internalize the idea that we’re broken or something is wrong with us.

We view our sensitivity as something to be shameful around.

This is where we start repressing and subconsciously creating personas.

In reality, sensitivity is a beautiful thing. And because other people were uncomfortable with our emotions, doesn’t mean there is something wrong with us.

🌞 i want proof of all the jokes we shared 🪄

i wrote and published this piece in ‘home body’. a year after publication i felt like it was incomplete and i had much more to say. so i wrote an extended version and have been performing it on tour over the last 11 months.

this is what i love about being a writer. we always have the power to go back- take what we’ve written- and alter it. pieces can grow and change as we grow.

can’t wait to publish the extended version in a book one day🙊
