Many of us have heard the word ‘Santosha,’ which means contentment. But, many wonder how to generate contentment. So, here is an alternate word.
Drum roll!! Enter Kritakritya, a distant cousin of Santosha.
Kritakritya (the word had a certain cruuunccch !! to it)
is a compound of, Krita, meaning done & Kritya, meaning what was to be done.
I like this word because, for me, it signifies active contentment—contentment or fulfillment derived from doing what one ought to do. It does not signify fulfillment derived from abandonment of one’s duties but from completing them. So, it represents a doing that’s done. In this sense, it could also mean closure.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagawan says, “by understanding the secret wisdom of Yoga that I have revealed the enlightened one becomes Kritakritya”.
Even the Ashtavakra Gita says, Only one thing has existed, exists and will exist in the ocean of being. You have no bo***ge or liberation. Live happily and fulfilled (kritakritya).
Do what you ought to, and gradually be fulfilled within 🙏🏾
Kritakritya is the bhaava (sense or feeling) that the Yoga seeker aspires to die with.

"Christine’s class today was phenomenal! As usual! I always learn something & my body feels rejuvenated so much better than when I started. I like how Christine makes the class accessible - there’s a range of different things I can do when we get to the harder poses, so if I feel stiff one day, class is still rewarding. She is also so knowledgeable @ kind! And her voice is so soothing, very calming as well! I’m so glad I’m an annual member!"
Annual Membership is the most cost effective way to become a member - for $60/month, paid at once, you can take all the classes and a few workshops per year, plus get awesome discounts on private sessions and retreats!

What do YOU practice?
This is a key insight of current habit research: over and above all the goal setting advice, people who SUSTAIN habits include them in their self-concept. They affirm statements like "I'm the kind of person who eats vegetable, practices music, practices yoga, stops to connect to my breath, lifts weights, hikes...." YOU get to fill in the blank (please do choose one at a time!), YOU get to define what the time, frequency and practice is. ,
Happy Pride Month! We see you, we love you, and we celebrate you! We can't wait to hug you as we celebrate this month with you across the state!
🏳️🌈♥️🧡💛💚💙💜🩵🤍🩷🤎🖤🏳️⚧️
You're Invited! In Mon/Wed, Fri, via MTWR - from our mat to yours 💫 Stay tuned! Belle starts teaching in studio Yin Yoga on July 11th, Sound Bath Solstice, and a workshop every month this summer!
You’ve heard me say it for nearly decade, Dr. Hibernians been on about it for years… energy, sleep quality, dysregulated stress responses, hunger - all benefit from about sunrise light 🌅. If that sounds hard - at first you can go back to bed after your 10-30 minutes, even! Like all natural responses, some people will notice a difference seemingly immediately, others after a couple of weeks. Totally worth an experiment for you to improve sleep 😴, energy 💃🏻, mood ☺️, feelings of stress 🫨. “Repost from

VIEWING MORNING SUNLIGHT AS A PRIMARY LEVER FOR HEALTH •
-
The basic Huberman Lab circadian rhythm setting protocol: go outside and face the sun. You don’t have to see it cross the horizon if it’s already risen.
On clear days, 5-8min viewing should suffice.
With partial cloud cover: 10-20min.
Overcast days: 20-30min.
-
How soon after waking? ASAP.
What if the sun isn’t out yet? You’ll have to wait. (Unless you have powers I am not aware of).
What if there is no sunlight where I live? There is always sunlight, and it’s brighter than even bright indoor lights.
Sunglasses OK? Not while setting circadian rhythm. They’re perfectly fine to wear at other times if you need them.
Can I view sunlight for circadian rhythm setting through a window? Alas, it’s not the same. Unless it’s sun coming in directly through an open window.
Glasses and contacts? Are fine.
Do I need to stare at the sun? No. Please don’t ever stare at the sun! Blink as needed. Protect your eyes.
-
To learn more about the use of light, including sunlight and redlight for circadian and other aspects of health, go to hubermanlab.com and put “light and health” into the search function… it will take you to the specific timestamps of interest. We also have a zero cost newsletter on this topic at that site. (See Newletter in menu tab and enter email; we don’t share it).

Please put any other questions you may have in the comments section below this post and as always, thank you for your interest in science!
