Our new name will be Christus Trinity Clinic Cardiology. We will still have the same staff and providers here to service your needs. Letters have gone out to all patients this week. ❤️

Celebrating and honoring the Summer 2023 Graduating Class!

Kerri Gowen was born and raised in Avoyelles Parish where she graduated from Marksville High School, Class of 1997. She graduated from Louisiana State University at Alexandria with a certificate in Pharmacy Technician in 2010.

She has obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University with the Summer Class of 2023.

Kerri is currently considering multiple career opportunities. In the future she wishes to pursue her certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and help others with diabetes to live a healthy life.

Kerri’s message to family and friends: I have to give credit to God; it is by his Grace that I have succeeded in my pursuit of my nursing degree. I am so thankful of my husband, Jason, for reminding me every day that I am stronger than I believed and encouraged me to push on to achieve my dreams. (You deserve that F250 or that Road Glide!!) To my kids, Lailynne, Olivia, Kayla, Haley, and Aiden, who have sacrificed so much over the years and cheered me on my hardest days so that I could pursue this dream. I am proof that hard work does pay off and our life is finally going to change!!! (It’s time for a real vacation and NO you cannot have my debit card) To my mom who was my role model as mother, wife, caregiver and nurse, I could have never made it without your encouragement and support. You lead by example that at any age you can choose to change your life and that with enough determination anything is possible. . Mom, we have made it!! To my brother, I proved you wrong; my SSI check is not in the mail yet. To my sisters and Nikki who I have called you crying to say that can’t do this anymore, you were right, it was possible and here we are. Thank you. Connie, who worked behind the scenes to help me and my family, I cherish you and love you. Thank you to my family at Freedman Memorial Cardiology: especially Dr Robert Freedman who planted the seed that I belonged in nursing. Dr John Smith who used reverse psychology as a form of encouragement, I guess you can say that it worked. Lastly, to all my friends and family who always urged me to keep going, Thank you!!!

Since the beginning of Freedman Memorial Cardiology, we have prided ourselves in caring for our patients both in the hospitals, as well as at our office. Unfortunately, with the never-ending changes in our world, particularly healthcare overall, we have had to take the difficult step of narrowing our scope of practice. Beginning June 1, 2023, we will be caring for patients at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, and our office in the Cabrini Doctors Building. We know this will affect our patients at Rapides Regional Medical Center, and we did not take this decision lightly.
Again, we understand this is a tremendous change for some of our patients, and our goal is to make this a temporary situation. We will continually assess our ability to staff both hospitals as time passes, and hope to return to Rapides in time. Our patients have always been, and continue to be our number one priority. We greatly appreciate CenLa, and we will continue to strive to provide the best possible care we can.

I’ve been married for 25 years to Kraig Fussell. We have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. In my spare time I love to travel, help my husband with our businesses, spend time with my family and church activities.
