This week at King Street Cats we are hoping for a small miracle. Well actually a trio of very special tuxie boys -- Tippy, Rowdie and Bart –have their paws crossed for one. The Three Amigos dream of being adopted together. A very long shot perhaps -- but when three lovely adult boys from horrible backgrounds bond in foster and ask if we can at least try for a miracle, who are we to deny them?
Tippy and Rowdie were 2 of 67 cats found in a hoarding situation. A wonderful group committed to finding care, homes, and rescues for all the cats. They found placement for 65 but had trouble finding a soft landing for the last two, Tippy and Rowdie. They were still in the house, which was set to be locked up by the sheriff when the group, desperate for help, reached out to King Street Cats. Of course, we said yes to these very frightened, confused, and understandably, angry boys.
Bart came to King Street Cats from a similar terrifying situation. Bart and his four friends were abandoned in a house scheduled to be torn down. A kind-hearted contractor contacted KSC when he found the cats. He showed up at our door, and again, of course, we said yes. Four of the cats were adapted to their new circumstances fairly easily but Bart was perplexed by it all and did not care for his new environs at all.
We knew all three needed a quiet place to adjust and decompress. One of our multi-tasking volunteers donned her hat and agreed to take them home with her. Now that they understand they are safe, they have flourished and become bonded, playing together, sleeping together, even grooming each other. All three are extremely sweet, playful, and talkative but have distinct, adorable purrsonalities.
Petite Tippy is friendly and outgoing, loves pets and head skritches and being close by. His sibling, Rowdie, is still working on completely trusting humans (can you blame him?) but loves licking Churu treats off your fingers, is first at the door when you enter with food, rubs against your ankles, and allows pets as he waits for his food dish. He’ll sit close by but will take some time to be completely confident. However, he has no problem telling you when it’s time to serve a meal! Bart is a big, friendly boy who absolutely loves people and attention. His adorable belly flops for head and back rubs never fail to melt your heart.
All these special boys want is a quiet, caring home together where they can love and be loved. Is that too much to ask? We don’t think so.
