This was shared from a Mac Arthur parent …
Calling all students who had Ms. Cetlin as their kindergarten teacher at MacArthur! Ms. Jenny Cetlin is going to the MacArthur playground on Sunday, June 9 at 3:30 pm and would love to see her last MacArthur class. Congrats to all the rising 6th graders!
Don't forget to plan ahead for next year! You can order your student's supplies and have them waiting in the classroom when school resumes through our partnership with EPI.
Deadline for the lowest price for orders is June 25!

The 2024-2025 school year is almost a wrap, but we still have a big event coming up Monday, June 3! Please consider donating your time (45 minutes is a HUGE help) for our final Reading is FUNdamental Day, where each MacArthur student receives a free book from the PTA for the summer.
Volunteers help our students select that special book to take home for the summer! But, we could also use a few hands setting the event up.
All volunteers must be approved by ACPS in order to attend.
If you are unable to attend, we could use some folding tables and canopies because, weather permitting, we are hoping to hold this event in our Outdoor Classroom at the school for the first time!

Hosting a table can be as simple as sharing a map and flag of your home country or as elaborate as displaying artifacts, stories, costumes, photos, books and recipes from home.
The intent is to creative with our kids and share your heritage with MacArthur friends in a fun, low-key setting.
Curious what it was like last year?

Thank you to all of our PTA volunteers for donating food, serving breakfast, handing out lunches, arranging flowers, supporting our gift card fundraising drive and generally spreading the joy to our MacArthur teaching staff this week!
The stars were shining brightly tonight at the Jungle Jamboree!
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we will be collecting donations so that each teacher goes home with a gift card! Please donate by Sunday, May 5 (so we have time to purchase the gift cards).
We are accepting donations via our Venmo account -PTA or using our PayPal. (Cash or checks can be dropped off in our PTA box in the front office).
If you are a business owner and wish to donate a specific item or service for a teacher gift card at the raffle, please contact Amy Hillis at [email protected] by Sunday, May 5.
And, please, don’t forget to sign up to volunteer in the school next week to support our teachers! We still have slots open to support the teacher lunch from Bittersweet, and we have a few recess monitor times available. We also still have ALL SLOTS for the pre-K recess, OPEN! These are our littlest kids, and they have recess in the interior courtyard. Please consider stepping in to support these teachers even if your child is not in preK!

Today is Spring2Action Day in Alexandria! Please Donate to Douglas MacArthur Literacy Projects during today's fundraiser!
This year, we have one goal in mind: Help our kids stay engaged with literacy and reading.
We have been hard at work supporting reading through the book fair, Reading is FUNdamental (RIF) events (where twice a year each students hand selects a FREE book to keep) and literacy programs, such as Lexia.
But, we need your help to continue these important projects.
Please consider donating $25, $50 or more to help us reach our goal of $6,000.
Your donation will go toward ensuring each MacArthur student can access the most approbate, tailored learning resources for a successful future.
If you cannot give at one of these levels, any amount of support will have an impact on achieving this important goal.

Stretch out, loosen up, get your zen -- all for a good cause and with good company! 🧘🏽🧘🏻♀️
Don't forget, Star Families! Join us tonight at 6:30PM for a family social at Glory Days for wonderful food, meeting up with old MacArthur friends and, hopefully, making new ones! Teachers and students are welcome to attend.
This is not a PTA meeting, it is just a moment to take time out and connect with our MacArthur community.
This event is hosted by Clique Sitter, a new app designed to connect local babysitters with local parents in need of trustworthy babysitting services.
We L💙VE Ms. Martin and her love of books! Thank you for all that you do for our Stars, Ms. Martin!
National School Librarian Day 2024 is a day to recognize and celebrate all that school librarians do. Please canvas your neighborhood listserves, buy nothing groups and friends for unwanted vases, large jars and/or large pint glasses that we can reuse to show our teachers and staff how awesome they are!

Thank you!
During Friday's Career Day, our little Stars will see presentations from a number of parents and community members with a variety of jobs, from mechanics to firemen to office workers and beyond. It’s a wonderful opportunity to expand the students’ minds as to what their learning today in school can lead to later in life.
Thank you, in advance, to Ms. Barnes-Paschal for leading this inspirational effort!

It's looking to be quite muddy on Sunday after the rain! Don't let your pooch get down in the dumps about it. Frolick Dogs has generously opened its doors exclusively to MacArthur families and their Star hounds Sunday from 2-4PM to take advantage of the agility obstacles, dog treadmills and balance equipment. Staff will be available for assistance in introducing owners and dogs to the activities. The cost is $20 per dog (cash preferred), and Frolick has generously agreed to donate all proceeds to our PTA.
Participants must complete this agreement (including vaccination information) in advance or at sign in when you arrive.
Our PTA Meeting this evening is cancelled due to an unforeseen schedule conflict for our speaker ... so grab some hot dogs instead at Haute Dogs and the PTA will get part of the proceeds!
Please Help Our Hive!
We need a few more volunteers to make Thursday's Spelling Bee for the Stars! a
